Description
Paxos was built by CRAGLIETTO for Marina Spaccarelli Bulgari for 1973 One Ton Championship and helmed by Admiral Agostino Straulino; S&S n° 2119. The owner had also Idra.
September 2025 After a complete restoration, the boat is back on the market, and a photo report is available. After proper rigging, the boat is extremely fast in light winds. Perfect for racing, but also comfortable for cruising given its size; excellent space and headroom in the saloon and cabin. The mahogany interiors are unique and stunning. Superlatives are a must on Paxos.
A) In October 2021, maintenance work began on the vessel named “PAXOS”; B) this work, which involved its complete conservative restoration, was completed in January 2023; C) the work included the complete restoration of the hull (underwater and above water), and the entire deck with its wooden superstructures. D) after careful stripping and sanding (carried out with the complete removal of all types of equipment), the hull and deck were brought to wood.
OPERA MORTA
After careful sanding of the old paint, the above-water work was treated with epoxy putties and two coats of Interprotect (international) and three coats of Perfection Undercoat White, followed by sanding.
The finish was done with three spray coats of Perfection Pro Oyster White (International).
COPERTA
All superstructures, left in visible wood, received 14 coats of clear varnish (single-component paints). The non-slip was made with two spray coats of Sherwin Williams matte enamel and a final spray coat, with the addition of Awlgrip Griptex Coarse non-slip.
RIGGING
The following work was done in 2023.
– Complete rigging, including new backstay and new forestay, and also a
forestay for sails with garrocci, to be used in racing.
– Refurbishment of the two flying backstays with attachment at the height of the trinchetta stay
and related blocks.
– Replacement of the old hydraulic control unit for the backstay with a new Sailtec control unit and revision of the NAVTEC cylinder with complete replacement of the rod.
– Replacement of all the foot blocks for the cockpit maneuvers of the flying backstays.
– New mainsail, trinchetta, and furling jib halyards.
– Revision of all the winches.
– Painting of the mast and boom, complete cycle.
– Modification of the mainsail lowering system in the mast to adopt normal cars
for full batten sails and application of the garrocci to the mainsail itself.
– Refurbishment of the circuit of the two hands of the third-party.
– Restoration of the three deck osterigi in aluminum, with subsequent painting (complete cycle for aluminum) in the same color as the mast and boom.
– Installation under the deck at the base of the mast of appropriate ties to discharge in
the hull the load of all the halyards.
- Complete restoration of the original vang, with replacement of the external tube.
ELECTRICAL AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

– New wind instrumentation at the top of the mast, with replacement of the internal cable in the mast.
– New deck lights and navigation lights, with replacement of the related cables.
– New VHF antenna and new Windex.
– New VHF Radio system with installation of the ICOM – IC-M330GE Vhf, and complete
replacement of all cables.
– New immersion bilge pump, new self-priming diaphragm pump,
revision of the hand pump, and replacement of all system pipes.
– Modification of internal light bodies for use of LED bulbs.
– Complete black water system: pipes, valves, tank with macerator, installation
on deck of an external access to the tank, including installation in the console of
the instrument panel for checking the black water tank level with remote operation of
the related emptying.
– Installation of a new electric toilet.
– Installation of a new windlass, with new electrical system.
– Complete refurbishment of the fresh water system, with replacement of the two flexible tanks,
of all pipes, of the mechanical pump and related autoclave, replacement of the kitchen sink
with related fittings.
– Installation of the sea water system in the kitchen.
– Installation of an external shower in the cockpit with hot and cold water.
– New water and diesel intakes and replacement of the related compliant pipes.
– Complete replacement of the refrigerator system with new Dometic compressor and related
evaporator.
– New gas system, with replacement of copper pipes, rubber hose and two shut-off valves.
Installation of a new compliant container for the gas cylinder;
Replacement of the old stove with a new two-burner stove with a toaster from
TECHIMPEX model MasterGrill.
– Revision of the hot water system (cleaning of the water heater and replacement of all pipes).

– Complete refurbishment of the kitchen area with a new solid mahogany countertop, refurbishment
of the sink cabinet in solid mahogany for installation of a new sink.
Dismantling of all internal furniture to allow for a radical cleaning of the hull and
the bilge, with related painting of the sides and bilge paints.
– Two coats of bilge paint on all interiors.
ENGINE
– Complete revision of the diesel engine with replacement of pipes, cables, etc.
– Complete revision of the hydraulic engine, and complete refurbishment of the hydraulic system
at high pressure with replacement of all related pipes, fittings, etc.
VARIOUS
– 4 fire extinguishers, raft revised 2025, life jackets (4+2 inflatable seat belts);
bimini and new bed/cushion covers;
– re-chroming of all deck equipment in steel
– new tender (2024) with Honda 2.3hp engine, engine holder on the stern pulpit, ladder/
gangway in teak and steel
