August Maverick is a 92-foot William Garden pilothouse cutter with a rich pedigree and exceptional commercial potential. She is being offered for sale as a unique opportunity to acquire a proven world cruiser and charter-ready vessel at a fraction of replacement cost. This page provides full transparency on her condition, history, and the restoration path forward following Hurricane Beryl.

The most significant exterior damage is localized to the starboard quarter, where debris caused a hull impact. Additional repairs are needed to replace damaged topside hardware, lifelines, and one shroud. A professional shipyard and rigging team have inspected August Maverick on site and confirmed that her structure remains sound. All identified repairs are well defined.
On the interior, the primary damage is water-related. Flying debris during the storm compromised the pilothouse Strataglass enclosure and several deck hardware fittings, allowing water to enter through these openings. While most of the water drained through opened through-hulls and drainage ports, some accumulated below deck. This water damage is primarily confined to the area beneath the pilothouse, affecting the two twin guest cabins and their ensuite heads. The aft master stateroom, main saloon, and forward sections remain largely unaffected.
A certified welder based on Carriacou has already inspected the hull damage and is prepared to complete critical repairs on site. This work will return August Maverick to seaworthy condition without the need for hauling or transport. Once these initial repairs are completed, she can be safely moved under her own power or relocated to a full-service shipyard for the remainder of the refit.
The owners have obtained two detailed estimates for restoring August Maverick to her previous luxury charter-ready condition: one at approximately $500,000 and another at $700,000. To be clear, these figures represent a full, top-tier refit to return her to charter standards. Depending on the buyer’s intended use and desired level of fit and finish, the cost could vary significantly. A safe, seaworthy restoration suitable for private cruising could be achieved for a fraction of this amount, while a higher-end, bespoke refit could exceed it.
This vessel offers a cost-effective and efficient path to return August Maverick to service — especially when compared to the far greater expense of building or purchasing a comparable vessel new. With her ABS tonnage measurement over 100 GRT and U.S. commercial endorsement allowing her to carry up to 12 passengers without requiring a Certificate of Inspection, August Maverick represents a rare commercial opportunity.
