The new Sea-Doo Fish Pro is the first personal watercraft to come from the factory rigged for fishing. Anglers have been combining components from the aftermarket and individual ingenuity to rig up Sea-Doo, Kawasaki Jet Ski and Yamaha WaveRunner PWCs for fishing for some time—there are a number of companies selling rear racks with rod holders designed to hold a cooler, for example—but with the Fish Pro, Sea-Doo saves us the work and provides a good foundation for angling fun that’s easy to tow and launch, maneuverable in the shallowest water, and priced at less than $15,000 (not including a trailer) pretty affordable for a fishing boat.

Sea-Doo Fish Pro

The Sea-Doo Fish Pro is factory rigged with a dedicated fishing cooler/rod holders and a Garmin fish locator.

The Fish Pro model is based on the 12-foot 3-inch ST3 hull introduced in 2017 for seven new Sea-Doo models, including the GTX Limited. The Fish Pro is powered by the  1.5-liter, 155 HP Rotax 1530 engine, a normally aspirated (no supercharger) powerplant. Fuel capacity is 18.5 gallons, or 2.6 gallon more than the GTX Limited models. Top speed will be about 50 MPH.

These angled gunwales are designed to be secure footrests when the angler is sitting sideways on the seat.

In converting this model for angling action, Sea-Doo installs an 11.5-inch swim platform extension that adds both room aft and stability in rough water, according to Sea-Doo. On the platform, Sea-Doo utilizes its LINQ accessory mount system to secure a 13.5-gallon cooler designed for fishing, with a recessed work surface in the lid, four rod holders, trolling slots and tackle and bait storage. The cooler can be quickly removed from the craft, and thanks to the platform extension there’s room to stand behind the cooler. A second set of LINQ attachment points on the extension can also be used to mount LINQ accessories, including a 4.2-gallon cooler or a 4.0-gallon fuel caddy.

A cooler with rod holders is secured to the aft platform with the Sea-Doo LINQ mount system.

The Fish Pro is equipped with bench-style seat that’s flat behind the driver position to facilitate sitting sideways on the seat while fishing. The tops of the gunwales are angled inboard to serve as a footrest surface, which helps brace an angler when the water is choppy or the big one bites. At the helm is a Garmin ECHOMAP Plus 62cv fish finder with a 6-inch screen and in-hull transducer that offers navigation, charting and fish-finding functions.

A dash-mounted Garmin ECHOMAP Plus 62cv offers fish location and navigation functions.

The Fish Pro is equipped with all of the features introduced in 2017 with the new GTX models, including easy-access bow storage and a dedicated cell phone storage compartment in the glove box. Base price, which includes the fishing cooler system and the Garmin, is $14,799. The factory-installed Bluetooth-enabled, two-speaker audio system bumps the base price up to $15,599.
