Summary: The ease of use of a shaped water-ski and the performance of a slalom ski come together in the new-for-2002 FX1 from Connelly. That's something novices and experienced skiers should appreciate.
The F1X is the latest shaped or "parabolic" water-ski from Connelly. The new model features the same rounded bevels and full concave bottom of the F1X slalom ski. That helps the ski rest lower in the water.
The outside shape of the F1X is different than the F1 because it is slightly wider in the forebody of the ski and the tail, while maintaining the same basic width as the F1 slalom ski in the center plate area of the ski. The benefit is ease of use over a normal conventional slalom ski. The slightly wider tip pops skiers out of the water and the slightly wider tail provides less drag. Reduced drag results in reduced skier fatique.
Slated for release in November, the FX1 will be available in 65-, 67- and 69-inch lengths. Single- and double-wrap bindings will be offered.
