The Poly-Planar MRD60 AM/FM CD stereo is designed to stand up to the rigors of the marine environment.

Constructed with a waterproof faceplate that reportedly eliminates the need for a splash cover, the flush-mounted model MRD60 AM/FM/CD marine stereo is the latest release from Poly-Planar. The unit boasts a patented waterproof volume control for adjusting sound without distortion at high levels.

All electronic circuits in the MRD60 are marine-coated to provide protection from the elements. A shock-resistant mechanism minimizes skip-free CD operation in rough conditions

A wired remote control keypad provides control of radio and CD functions, as well as an intercom for communicating with different areas of the boat. For wireless operation, an infrared remote can be used to access the system from a distance. The credit card-sized remote control is attached to a lanyard for easy retrieval if accidentally dropped overboard.

The MRD60 system also features an innovative expansion port. In addition to allowing peripherals such as remote control, this device accommodates additional Poly-Planar enhancements such as VHF override capability and automatic ambient noise sensing to control volume.

With 180 watts of total power available, the unit has enough power to drive four 45-watt speakers. Its overall dimensions are 7-5/8" long x 7" wide x 2-3/4." A six-disc CD changer also is compatible with the unit.

Suggested retail price for the MRD60 is $450.
