Buzzards Bay 30s were originally built in 1902 by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company of Bristol, Rhode Island. The 47-foot yachts were ordered by the Beverly, Massachusetts Yacht Club and were raced as a class.
MASHNEE is a rare offering, being one of six known remaining hulls that has had
the combined restoration efforts of well-known master craftspeople under the
watchful eye of the owner. MASHNEE has been meticulously maintained since
the restoration by the restorer on the fresh waters of Lake Champlain.
Mashnee is actually Marconi rigged , but her chainplates never got changed in position and she could get back to her original rig , but ,like Rowdy, she has been Marconi rigged since long time and her rig became accepted even by strict race rules as CIM
MASHNEE has a new masthead rig as of 2015. Her 62' Sitka spruce keel
stepped mast, boom and bow sprit are new in 2008. The standing rigging is
stainless steel to bronze turnbuckles and chainplates.

12volt system with custom panel on the starboard side of
the companionway below. Master switching occurs are the same location. She is
powered by 2- 12v marine grade batteries. When the alternator is not engaged
the POWERFIL R15-1200 solar panel easily handles the charging duties.
Mashnee's salon features port and starboard Concordia settee berths with red
valour cushions that blend nicely with the cabin's varnished mahogony. There is
an abundance of storage in high cabinets port and starboard. Forward to
starboard is a cabinet and dove-tail drawer storage.
The galley carries the theme of simplistic elegance from the main cabin
by employing custom brass sink water pump and brass filtered water spigot. The
crockery storage is plenty and with the white raised Herreshoff white panel
cabinets and the varnished mahogany contrasting with the brass hardware you
have elegant "eye candy".

demand pump. The drop-down stainless steel sink allows for greater room to
move in this compartment.
Mashnee's forepeak has amble room for sail storage forward and to starboard.
On her portside is a single berth. This space has a large overhead hatch for
MASHEE's next owner benefits from a trove of written press on the restoration,
construction plans, Herreshoff museum history on the Buzzards Bay 30's and a
large amount of video footage on her restoration.
Her rebuilding was done over a three year period under the leadership of Darling
Boatworks in Charlotte, Vermont. French and Webb of Belfast, Maine built the

She is double planked with 9/16 Douglas fir over 9/16 Cypress planking. Bronze
screws fasten planking to white oak frames and backbone. DYNEL is epoxied to
plywood over her cedar decks and then AWLGRIP paint applied. The toe rails
and hatches are Honduran mahogony. The deck house is varnished mahogany.
Her lead ballast was melted down and recast before mounting.
