2018 Complete Refit of our Gemini 105Mc!
This wasn't our plan, but she's for sale. We have completely refit of our beautiful Gemini.
Contact me and I'll give you a link to our You Tube channel for all the videos referenced below. The videos are a lot more informative than the pics on this site. For example, you can see her under sail, understand how the instrumentation and helm works, the efficiency of the galley, and see how easily the dinghy planes. There are eight 'Upgrades and Fixes' videos on our channel. And, all of our adventures, from the Chesapeake to the Bahamas are also there. Thank you for your interest!
These are brief descriptions
New Engine: Repowered with a Yamaha 25 outboard with only 196 hours. See the video on how we did it. The engine is fully steerable in synchrony with the rudders, so she turns in a very, very tight radius.
New Paint: Completely repainted, inside and out. See the video of us doing all the work. She gleams!
New Galley: Rebuilt countertop, plumbing, new range, new AC outlets, new faucet. See the galley video.
New Helm: The steering cables were replaced in Georgetown. See the video on how we did it, and the result.
New Lifelines: Weathered white plastic coated lifelines were replaced with all new Suncor stainless steel.
New Instruments: All the gauges and instruments are new. See the NEMA 2000 Raymarine+Yamaha+Garmin+Analog+AIS integration video on how beautifully and simply it all works together.
New Windows: They're crystal clear now! New covers, too. See the video.
New Lighting: We added dimmable LED strip lighting in many areas. And all the old incandescents have been replaced. See the video on how bright it is now.
New Salon: The salon has been reconfigured and reupholstered. The dining table has been replaced with a much cleaner and larger surface. See the video for how it turned out! We also added AC, DC and USB ports for your laptop and mobile phones. The salon makes into a very large bed.
New Dingy: The dinghy is a new 2018 10' 3" PVC RIB. See how easily she gets up on a plane in the video.
New Climate Control: The 16,500 BTU Mermaid AC with EasyStart. See video. New fans. New Pfifertex window shades. See video
New Anchors: A Rochna 15 has 120' of new G4 chain. We've also added a lightweight Fortress as a backup and kedging anchor. New heavy gauge cable has been run for a windlass.
New Head: The wet head has been replaced with an odor free dry head. All plumbing, through hulls and odor have been eliminated. See the head video for how clean and simple it is now.
New Sound System: A new Bluetooth enabled receiver/amplifier powers high quality speakers, four in the salon and two in the cockpit. Fader between the salon and cockpit. And a color LED light strip in the cockpit, for parties.
Solar Power: A 365 W solar panel is over the dinghy, with a high quality BlueSky MPPT solar controller.
Folding Bikes: They are freshly serviced y store easily in the tool bin.
Rigging and Sails: Are in very good condition. See the videos of us underway for a complete picture.
Water System: Two 30 gallon water tanks now have level gauges which appear on the instrument panel. This makes it very easy to fill the tanks properly. The show sump pump is new. See the video for information on how this is done.
Electrical System: Both the AC and DC wiring messes have been cleaned up, labeled and documented. The documentation is on board. A NEMA backbone integrates and connects all the instruments and gauges.
Dinghy Engine: The 1998 Nissan (Tohatsu) 8 HP two stroke 20" shaft outboard gets the new 10'3" dinghy up on a plane easily. See the video. Since it only weighs 40 pounds, it is very easy to move from the dingy to it's mount on the transom. The new carburetor plus the new fuel/water separator insures reliable operation.
Auxiliary Power: We mount the dinghy engine on the transom when underway, which makes it very easy to deploy as aux power. See our video of us in the Abacos on how well this works. It's great to have the backup!
MORE: Space limits information about all the Tools, Raised Locker Floors, New Floorboards, all New Gaskets, the 12V Watermaker, Shore Power improvements, the New Batteries, a new Propane manifold, etc.
