Description

The Krogen 50' Open was introduced as a new model bringing a different layout to the Krogen line.  The main level is almost single level and gives you a great open feel.  The pilothouse, galley and saloon are essentially on the same level so you have light and visibility from all directions.  The galley is huge with house hold appliances like the 86" Sub Zero fridge and the Wolf professional stove and oven.  For separation, if needed, at the push of a button a wall will power up and separate the pilothouse from the galley and saloon.  Sophia Rose has a 55" Samsung TV mounted on this wall.  It is easily seen from anywhere in the saloon and galley and even from the "back porch".

When you go downstairs from the pilothouse you will find a huge midship master stateroom with a wonderfully large ensuite bathroom.  There is also a beautiful VIP Queen stateroom forward with an ensuite bathroom.  From the master suite you can go through a water tight door into a tremendous engine room with 7' of height.  You will not be ducking your head going into this engine room!

Construction

Hull and superstructure made from high-grade female tooling. Hull construction includes use of USA-made, Cook® gel coat. Hand-laid Knytex (in combination with mat and Corecell®) is utilized above waterline and solid fiberglass lamination below the waterline with blister-resistant vinylester resins utilized on first laminates. Stem and stern bottom areas are aramid fiber/FRP reinforced.

Superstructure construction includes Knytex® and mat in combination with Corecell® cores and surface mats for print-through reduction.

There are teak aft and side decks. Boat and fore decks have GripTex® non-skid finish. Bulwark has molded plank lines with gel coat finish.

Polyurethane formulated marine sealants were used at hull-to-deck, boat deck joints and exterior fittings. Bulkheads are marine grade plywood and additional hull strength is achieved with molded fiberglass hat section stringers.

The interior is finished with handcrafted solid cherry and veneers.

Aft Deck

The aft deck is spacious and completely covered by the boat deck for sun and rain protection making it a great place to sit and watch the world go by.  There is a large aft door that goes down to the swim platform.  On the platform you will find the shore power connection with a Glendinning Cablemaster w/ remote and 85' of cable.  For security and safety there are three stern staples mounted on the swim platform to protect crew.  The aft deck also features two side doors to access the dock.  For comfort there is a full screen enclosure as well as a full polycarbonate enclosure to keep the weather out.  There is a glass and fiberglass door that gives access to the covered side deck on the starboard side.  You will also find a fresh water wash down on the aft deck and a lazarette hatch that goes down and provides access to a watertight door into the engine room.  This is in addition to a larger watertight door found in the master stateroom.

Saloon

To enter the saloon you step up two small steps and pass thru a large stainless steel framed glass rolling door.  As you walk in you will take notice of how open the space is due to large windows all around and the ability to look thru the galley and the pilothouse out the forward windows.  To port you will find a comfortable L-shaped Ultraleather covered settee that has tons of storage under it.  This settee can also convert to a berth when needed.  To starboard you will find space for two household chairs.  There is a moveable hi-lo cherry table that can fold out to twice its size for seating 6 to 8 people if you have some extra chairs.  For entertainment there is a 55" Samsung TV on a lift that separates the galley and saloon from the pilothouse.  For privacy and shade there are custom electric blinds in the saloon that go up and down at the push of a button.

Galley

The galley is just forward of the saloon and features household appliances.  It is complete with quartz counters, Wolf commercial stove and oven, GE dishwasher and Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer.  There is also a Wolf low profile hood with commercial ventilation and lights for over the Wolf stove.  The galley has a custom designed glass backsplash and also two motorized lifts to take advantage of extra storage on either side of the Wolf stove.  These will serve as an appliance garage or under counter storage.  The sink is a custom sink and there is a flat knife block installed in the counter to the left of the sink.  Across from the galley is the 86" Sub Zero fridge and to the right is a lower cabinet with a small wine fridge and rack storage for more wine bottles.  The galley has tons of undercounter storage with lockers and multiple drawers.  There is also more storage forward of the Sub Zero on the starboard side of the cabin.  The bulkhead forward of the galley separates the galley and saloon from the pilothouse and at the push of a button this wall can lift up.  There is a 55" Samsung TV mounted on it.  In the retracted position it makes the room incredibly open which is where the boat's model name comes from.  There is a small removable cherry panel to the left of the TV that makes it even more open.

Master Stateroom & Ensuite Head

The master stateroom is midship and features a household Queen bed to the port side of the cabin.  To starboard is the ensuite head. In the stateroom you will find storage under the bed as well as in all directions behind locker doors. For ventilation there are two huge opening portholes over the bed. There are also two wall LED lights mounted beside the bed.

The master head has two vessel sinks, backlit mirrors and quartz counters.  There is a huge molded fiberglass shower with a frameless tempered glass door, molded bench seat and large opening port hole.  There is also another large porthole in the head itself over the counter.  Behind the head door is a household size Dometic Master Flush head with status panel.

VIP Guest Stateroom & Ensuite Head

The VIP guest stateroom is forward and features a household sized Queen bed with storage under.  There is also a large hanging locker.  For light and ventilation there are 4 opening stainless ports and 2 large overhead hatches with Oceanair Skyscreen and shades.  There are also two wall LED lights mounted beside the bed.

The ensuite head features a vessel sink with a custom tile backsplash.  There is also a molded fiberglass shower with a frameless tempered glass door.  The head is a household size Dometic Master Flush head with status panel.

Pilothouse

The pilothouse is truly the place to be underway.  There is a large cherry electronics console so the captain can have everything at their fingertips while cruising.  You have a large cherry wheel and a LlBroc pedestal helm chair with fold up bolster.  Behind the helm chair is a large L-shaped Ultraleather settee with a table that can fold out to twice its size.  The settee can also pull out to make a true double berth.  There is plenty of storage on either side of the helm as well as a ton of space under the settee in lockers.  The pilothouse has an internal staircase and banister that takes you to the flybridge.  The bottom of the staircase lifts up for even more storage underneath.  For ventilation and access there are two welded aluminum Dutch doors that are on each side of the pilothouse and access the Portuguese walkway around the pilothouse.

Aft of the flybridge is the boat deck there is a complete summer kitchen w/ stainless Sea Star propane grill, Isotherm Cruise 85 refrigerator and a sink with both hot and cold water.  The tender is behind a rail in chocks.   There is a Steelhead Marine ES-1000 hydraulic davit w/ power rotation.  The boat deck is surrounded by 316L stainless rails for security and there is plenty of room for entertaining and patio furniture.  For propane storage there is a locker on the left side of the flybridge and it contains two 20# aluminum propane tanks.  These supply the Sea Star grill and the Wolf stove and oven in the galley.

For the fore deck there is a wide Portuguese bridge in front of and around the pilothouse.  It features engine and thruster controls at each corner making this the best place for maneuvering the vessel when docking or locking thru a lock.  There is a door on either side of the bridge to get on or off the boat when at a fixed pier at low tide.  There is also a door on either side of the bridge facing forward to provide access to the foredeck.  Between these doors is a comfortable settee w/ storage under.  All the way forward is the anchor system which features a hydraulic 2500# vertical Maxwell windlass with a wildcat for the all chain rode and a gypsy above for a second anchor or for warping lines.  It is operated from the pilothouse or convenient foot switches on the deck.  This anchor handling area is elevated from the deck to make it easier to work with and it is contained with a lip and there is a drain overboard.  This keeps mud washed from the anchor and chain from running all over the deck.  There is also a large watertight Freeman hatch to the left that when open provides access to a stainless and teak ladder that takes you down into the anchor locker.  This locker is large and does have a drain overboard that can be closed off under the forward VIP berth.  For convenience there are fresh water and salt water wash downs and shore and water inlets from the dock if bow to the pier.
