Description
The "Tasman" is a Stichnoth 46 Clipper Cutter, designed by Horst Stichnoth and built in 1992 at the renowned shipyard Volharding in Staveren (Netherlands). It is a true bluewater cruiser, constructed for long journeys, extended ocean passages, and safe circumnavigations. The heavy round bilge steel hull (6 mm, 20 mm at the keel bottom), the long keel with skeg, and the approximately 20 tons of displacement provide exceptional stability and calm behavior in heavy weather. The deep blue AWL-Grip paint and the teak-decked cockpit give it a classic maritime character that stands out everywhere.
Between 2023 and 2024, a very extensive refit was carried out. This includes:
• complete renewal of all navigation electronics (B&G Vulcan 12R, HALO 20+, new autopilot system),
• new running rigging and halyards (2024),
• various interior works,
• complete overhaul of the Perkins M90 engine (83 HP),
• new electrical distribution with Simarine monitoring (2024),
• new solar and charging electronics,
• new deck hatches (2024),
• extensive workshop & spare parts in the bow.
All important systems have been modernized for reliability and long-distance suitability. The yacht can immediately set off for a long voyage or ocean passage.
Below deck, the Tasman welcomes its crew with warm teak finishes, plenty of storage space, and a standing height of 1.95 m. It has 800 liters of diesel and 800 liters of fresh water (stainless steel tanks), both with modern Simarine level indicators. The entire technical installation is clean, logically accessible, and optimized for long voyages.
The completely overhauled Perkins M90 runs reliably and economically (about 4 l/h) and offers a range of approximately 900 nautical miles under engine power. The storm stability, smooth operation, and solid construction make the Tasman an ideal boat for serious bluewater sailors.
The rig comes from Reckmann, in a cutter-sloop layout, including a Hood sail wardrobe (roller mainsail, genoa, cutter sail). All running rigging parts were renewed in 2024, and two spinnaker poles are mounted on the mast. Andersen winches ensure efficient and reliable handling.
The complete navigation electronics were replaced in 2024: B&G Vulcan 12R plotter, HALO 20+ radar, B&G NAC-3 autopilot with Simrad hydraulic drive, Garmin AIS 800, B&G V60 VHF with H60 handheld radio, as well as an NMEA2000 network. This meets professional requirements for safety and situational awareness.
The yacht is being sold for health reasons and will be handed over fully equipped – including tools, spare parts, safety equipment, communication systems, dinghy with outboard motor, workshop in the bow, household equipment, and everything currently on board.
The "Tasman" has already completed several circumnavigations and has impressively proven its strength, elegance, and reliability. It combines character, soul, and true bluewater capability in a vessel that is ready for many more great journeys.
