From 1966 dates the 10.00 meter tjalk 'Volharding', built by Van der Torre Brielle. My wife and I had the great pleasure of sailing this little ship for a year. It turned out to be a fast sailor, partly thanks to the waterline length. It was also quite possible to sail in narrow waterways. The under-deck lowering mast with counterweight was a delight on tours through the Netherlands. It seemed as if obstacles from bridges hardly existed for us. The layout of the 'Volharding' had a very spacious accommodation for six to eight people for such a cargo ship, even though the cabin did not extend past the mast.
