Description

Amara is a Ron Holland designed Magnum 46.5, a proven bluewater cruiser–racer that blends elegant lines, offshore strength, and a practical, comfortable interior. Built for performance and safety, she has the pedigree and equipment to carry you confidently across oceans.

Her powerful sloop rig, wide beam (14’6”), and deep fin keel deliver both speed and stability under sail, while her spacious cockpit and thoughtful deck layout make her secure and efficient for passagemaking. With self-tailing winches, Whitlock wheel steering, and running rigging led aft, she is easily managed by a couple, yet offers the performance to satisfy keen sailors.

Below deck, Amara offers six berths across three cabins, two heads, and a bright saloon with ample seating — making her ideal for extended family cruising or long-distance passages. The seaworthy galley, dedicated nav station, and generous storage further underline her ocean-going capability. Air conditioning is fitted in the saloon, providing cooling comfort in the main living space, with airflow trickling into adjacent areas for additional relief in warm climates.

She has been thoughtfully upgraded with bluewater essentials, including a watermaker, solar charging system, Starlink satellite internet, and a comprehensive suite of Raymarine navigation electronics with AIS, autopilot, and GPS repeaters. For the adventurous, she also carries a dive compressor with tanks, providing complete independence for diving expeditions in remote anchorages. Safety is bolstered by an Echomax active radar reflector and robust ground tackle with electric windlass.

Whether your ambitions are transatlantic crossings, Caribbean cruising, or extended voyaging, Amara is already equipped and perfectly suited for bluewater cruising in comfort and safety.

Accommodations

Below deck, Amara offers a spacious and practical layout designed for both comfort and offshore functionality.

  • Sleeping: Six berths in three cabins — forward double cabin, two aft cabins with twin berths
  • Saloon: Spacious saloon with U-shaped settee and dining table to port, seating to starboard

  • Storage: Ample lockers, cupboards, and hanging wardrobes throughout

Mechanical Equipment

Amara is powered by a dependable Yanmar 4JH series 75hp diesel engine, located beneath the companionway for easy access to all service points. The engine is fresh-water cooled and well maintained, offering reliable propulsion for both coastal cruising and extended offshore passages.

  • Engine: Yanmar 4JH3E 56 hp diesel, approx. 1,250 hours
  • Drive: Shaft drive with three-blade propeller
  • Generator: Paguro 4,000W diesel generator
  • Watermaker: Dessalator D60, producing 60 L/hr freshwater

Deck and Hull Equipment

Amara’s deck layout and hull design showcase her Ron Holland pedigree — fast, strong, and practical for both offshore cruising and racing. Her build strikes the ideal balance between performance and comfort: powerful under sail, yet secure and functional at anchor.

  • Hull: GRP construction, fin keel, spade rudder; sugar-scoop transom with walkthrough
  • Cockpits: Twin cockpits — forward “crewing” cockpit and aft twin-wheel helm cockpit
  • Decks: Teak decks re-caulked in 2023 (6–8 mm remaining)
  • Ground Tackle: 25 kg Rocna anchor + 50 m chain (recommend 90–100 m), secondary 22 kg CQR with chain/rope
  • Winches: Lewmar 58 (genoa), 48 (cockpit coamings), 44 (mast)

  • Deck Gear: Coachroof grabrails, mooring cleats, deck hatches, opening portlights

The deck and hull layout combine offshore safety with comfortable cruising features, making Amara a versatile yacht for passagemaking, family sailing, or competitive events.
