Description

We are pleased to offer you this beautifully restored classic yacht. As befits a true classic, you are purchasing a piece of nautical history, a life story; The Bromo was built in 1932 to the design of Ir. J. Loeff – co-founder of the Waterkampioen – at G. de Vries Lentsch in Amsterdam. The penultimate owners conducted extensive research and correspondence to uncover the intervening history. The “BROMO” was extensively restored between 1992 and 2008, from a completely new hull to a completely new interior, from a new engine to new electrical systems. Yet it is the original details that give the yacht its charm and elegance; the lines speak for themselves; slender and elegant, resulting in beautiful sailing behavior. The finishing touches are meticulously attended to; from the toilet to the lights next to the mirror, from the original toggle switches on solid mahogany light fixtures. The complete restoration is of a rare high standard and comes with photos and documents. In 1992, the Bromo was stripped down to its ribs, and in the following years, it was fitted with a new hull in Walsoorden (Zeeuws-Vlaanderen), fully sandblasted in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, and then coated with a two-component paint system, with a base thickness of 640mu. The Caterpillar engine was installed by specialists in Papendrecht. The engine room is fully equipped with tread plates and well insulated. In Papendrecht, preparations were also made for all electricity for the generator, the inverter, controls, and modern equipment such as radar, plotter, GPS, boiler, and kitchen appliances like refrigerator and stove. The 10kVA generator from Lombardini provides sufficient capacity for a washing machine and/or microwave if needed. The interior work is executed to cabinetmaker standards by skilled ship carpenters in Hardinxveld-Giessendam. The finishing of beautiful mahogany and ebony details, the dovetail joints, and the paintwork give the appearance of similar ships from the 1930s of the last century. The toilet – a Baby Blake – is placed in a separate washroom, and at the bow of the ship, there is a separate shower area. Of course, the ship is equipped with a waste water tank. The entire ship has a floor made of 200-year-old oak laid in a parquet pattern, with screws concealed using wooden plugs. At the back is the captain's cabin, featuring a generously sized bed with two separate mattresses and plenty of storage space. The bench in the forepeak can be arranged as a double sleeping area as desired. On deck, the beautiful teak deck stands out, and the cuckoo and the hatch on the foredeck are custom-made based on ships from that era. The wiring for the radar is cleverly concealed in the railing on the roof of the wheelhouse. An article about the Bromo is dedicated in the watersport magazine De Waterkampioen, and upon request, we will send this to you. If you are interested, we would like to invite you for a viewing in Elburg. For questions and/or to make an appointment, you are welcome at Elburg Yachting 7 days a week.
