Description

Allied Seawind MKll ketch, was created as a bolder version of the MKI as you would guess, then Lorelai was taken a step beyond.  Lorelai has modifications fore and aft.   Her enhancement gives a Proformance impact by streamlining for close hull beats and bolder downwind runs.  Born a slightly heavier girl with two masts she proved to be more work than just one.  The cost of conversion by the qualified design team was not cheap.  Considerable cost associated with new sails deck fittings, & modifications go to show how much they love this boat & with a larger mainsail her speed, power and weight reduction made her a force to recon with on any racecourse.  The added bow sprit is a spar extending from her prow.  The extension creates a new forestay attachment point longer than her siblings.  The added square footage of sails gives better angles of attack to wind & increasing her stability.  Downwind her rig extension lifts the bow to plane on the crest of waves.  This modification takes the MKII with her already extended hull and beam which was significantly more expensive than her predecessor to levels never achieved before.  Lorelai is the more sought-after cutter rigged sloop that makes sailors pause. The mainsail, Jib, & staysail are less than 7 years old & in like new condition. Her double headstays allow twin downwind jibs to power through the water.  A cut away full keel provides stability of her blue water ocean crossing design.  With a capsize ratio of 1.7 she is safer than most yachts in the marina.   Extra height to her stanchions, 30" rather than the more commonly seen 24," provide extra security onboard, as does the fairly high toe rail.  Improvements and new items include Stack pack, Raymarine wheel pilot, Raymarine Axium 9 Multifunction display, New Roller Furling System, New dodger with strata covers, new bimini, new air conditioning, new barrier coat and bottom job, new top side and hull side paint, new nonskid, new cutlass bearing, new engine mounts, new batteries, new alternator and even a new fuel tank.
