Description

ISLAND STORM is a beautifully presented and meticulously organized Weymouth 34, featuring a Nelson-derived hull and reliable twin Perkins diesel engines. Equipped with new Raymarine navigational equipment, re-upholstered furnishings, twin thrusters, and abundant, stunning varnished teak cabinetry, she would be the apple of anyone’s eye. With four berths, a lovely protected aft cockpit, and classic, handsome lines, she's sure to impress.

Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

 

Built to Lloyds Register approved drawings, with Lloyds approved materials and were surveyed during build. A Lloyds hull construction certificate was issued with each part-assembly on completion.

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • The hulls, decks, and superstructures were moulded by Halmatic in Lloyds Register-approved  polyester resin, CSM, and WR mats.+
  • Underwater hull blasted, dried, epoxy coated and Coppercoated – with 2-Year Warranty (May 2025).
  • Fitted out by James & Caddy of Weymouth, Dorset, UK.
  • Polished, varnished, and serviced (2024).
  • Round bilged hull form, with a three-quarter length keel.
  • Painted blue GRP hull, with white GRP superstructure, and grey Treadmaster laid to side decks.
  • The hull structure consists of substantial longitudinal and transverse frames.
  • Built to Lloyds Register approved drawings, surveyed during original construction.
  • 4 structural fully bonded-in bulkheads.
  • Cockpit sole is teak-laid, with cockpit lockers featuring hinged teak-laid tops.
  • Varnished teak cappings to cockpit surround, with stainless steel canopy frame runners.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 2 x Professionally re-built Ford Sabre 180S 6-cylinder turbo-0charged and intercooled diesel engines (port engine re-built in 2022).
  • Borg Warner Velvet Drive reduction gearboxes : 1.91-1 ratio.
  • Flexible shaft couplings to conventional stuffing boxes.
  • Morse 33C cable-driven gear and throttle cables, to chrome Morse single level controls.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Maximum speed: 20 knots.
  • Comfortable cruise: 15 knots.
  • Relaxed, pleasant ride at 8 knots.
  • As part of the boat’s refit, the engines were removed from the boat and rebuilt.
  • Engine room painted - 2019.
  • Indicated engine hours : 4215 / 3515.
