    Korean Boat Show

    Zuzana Prochazka
    Mar 9, 2010

The Miami International Boat Show a few weeks ago was visited by more than just boaters, boat builders and accessory manufacturers.  In fact, one of the exhibitors seeing attention was the Korea International Boat Show that is coming up in June. It’s no surprise really.  Korea is a leading shipbuilder and Korean companies including flat panel TV manufacturers and satellite TV and VSAT antenna developers are making great strides in the marine industry.  Korea is the 5th largest automobile manufacturer and the world’s 13th largest economy.  Its geographic position between Japan and China certainly helps in reaching out to major consumer markets.  The show is just in its first couple years but it’s gaining strength and is now being marketed actively to American companies and boaters.  So, on June 9-13, Gyeonggi Province will host the 2010 show with about 80,000 square feet of exhibit space both in and out of the water.  In 2009, 467 companies from 33 countries participated.  If you have the time, and maybe business in that part of the world, check out the show.  But bring your suit, in Korea, these events are still fairly formal affairs.  …Read More

    Kimball Livingston
    Mar 8, 2010

There’s also: Bring’em back home. Dorade, courtesy Sparkman & Stephens [...] …Read More

Peligroso, aka a training camp. Photo by Kimball Livingston Regata Copa México is important because it is not. That is, whether it was the MEXORC series for big boats just completed or the J/24 racing soon to be under way on Bahia de Banderas, there is nothing here to re-chart the course of boat design or [...] …Read More
