The Huntington Drone has been around forever and a day, and this trolling spoon is a stand-by for fish like Spanish or king mackerel, striped bass, bluefish, and many others. So, how do you improve on a lure like this? Can there be anything “new” about a spoon that’s existed for eons? You bet – at one of the fishing shows this winter I bumped into the Drone folks, and they gave me some new trolling spoons to test out that are a significant improvement over yesteryear’s Drones.

The difference is in the finish; instead of the same-old same-old silver and gold, or color tape, Huntington’s new Electric series of spoons are powder-coated either once or multiple times to attain some seriously flashy base colors. Then flash tape cane be added (or not, as you choose) to give a multiple color pattern to each individual spoon. Here’s what they look like with, and without, the powder-coat/flash tape combo:

The Drone spoon is an oldie, but a goodie!

The color combinations go on and on, depending on which base Electric and which flash-tape pattern you choose. Go to www.dronespoon.com, click on Electric, and you can mix and match ‘em right there on-screen. Hey, wait a sec – is this really worth the bother? After all, a spoon is a spoon is a spoon…. right? Well, let’s ask this guy what he thinks:

This wahoo responded to the flash of an Electric
