There was probably a bit of luck involved, but I'm very impressed with the skills of this sailboat's skipper. Whoever was steering obviously knew the boat, anticipated well, and brought the vessel into a safe refuge without an incident.
Big waves can be a huge challenge, but it's the transition zones (coastlines, harbor entrances, reefs) that pose the biggest dangers to those who find adventure on the water.
