STILLWATER, Okla. — Stern-drive engine industry giant Mercury MerCruiser and 128-year-old boat-builder Chris-Craft will work together, according to a press release from Mercury Marine, to build "first-class boating packages." Beginning this month, Chris-Craft boats, including the 22- to 28-foot Heritage Edition Launch series, in the 2002 product lineup will be available with MerCruiser power.

"We have very high expectations for this relationship," said Andy Lindstrom, Chris-Craft's vice president of sales, in the release. "By associating with MerCruiser, we are not only illustrating our commitment to quality but also to innovation."

MerCruiser engines for Chris-Craft offerings range from the 260-horsepower 5.0 MPI to the 425-horsepower 496 MAG H.O. All V-8 models feature a multiport fuel injection system for precise engine control, performance and reliability.

"We are extremely pleased about the opportunity to be a part of such a strong boat brand name," said Patrick Mackey, president of Mercury Marine, in the release. "Chris-Craft has been associated with pleasure boating for as long as pleasure boating has been a recognized activity."
