The Norstar logo. Norstar is a semi-custom builder of pilothouse and flybridge powerboats ranging from 30 to 36 feet in length, and sailboats from 40 to 46 feet long. Based in Bellingham, WA, Norstar was founded in 1995 by owner Steve Nordtvedt, whose father founded and ran Uniflite, a well-known, Washington-based powerboat builder. Originally an entirely powerboat operation, Norstar added a sailboat lineup with two Robert Perry designs when fuel prices soared during the latest recession. The company prides itself on its fine interiors and quality hull construction, which utilizes stiff hulls made of hand-laid fiberglass.
