POLK CITY, Fla. — Chris Parrish of Orlando, Fla. and Regina Jaquess of Suwanee, Ga., have been named iMale and Female Athletes of the Month for June by USA Water Ski. The athletes will now be considered for the United States Olympic Committee's Male and Female Athlete of the Month awards.

"Chris and Regina are to be congratulated for the impressive performances that led to their selection as USA Water Ski's Athletes of the Month," said Steve McDermeit, USA Water Ski's executive director. "Being named Athlete of the Month is a great honor and these athletes are very deserving."

Parrish, 23, won his third consecutive tournament after running 3-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off at the Malibu Just Ride Series' Degree Slalom Challenge, June 22-23, at Island Park in Minneapolis. Parrish had the lead in each of the three rounds of the competition. His best pass was in the quarterfinals when he ran the full 39-1/2 off pass — the only competitor in the event to complete the pass — and finished the round with 1-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off

Jaquess, 18, established a pending Women 1 national tricks record of 7,780 points at the McCormick Summer Classic, June 29-30, in Seffner, Fla. It marked the third time in less than a year that Jaquess has broken the Women 1 national tricks record. Jaquess' combined performance in the tournament's first round of 3 buoys at 38 feet off in slalom, 7,780 points in tricks and 163 feet in jumping gave her an overall score of 2,820.2 points, just 33 points shy of the current Open Women world overall record.
