Wyatt Fountain and Jeff Harris piloted Znetix/Lake Cumberland, a 39-foot Fountain powered by twin 750-horsepower Mercury Racing Super V race to take the Super V title at the inaugural North Coast Rock'n & Roar'n Offshore Grand Prix August 12 on Lake Erie in Cleveland. Harris and Fountain averaged 88.64 mph to take their fourth consecutive checkered flag this season. Wellcraft Conseco took second place and After Shock finished third.

Super Cat

Hugh Fuller and John Tomlinson averaged 99.54 mph in their 39-foot MTI Drambuie On Ice to win the 10-lap, 100-mile Super Cat race. Fuller and Tomlinson battled Pier 57 pilots David Woods and Art Lilly who finished a mere eight seconds behind, capturing second. D Don Q Rum with owner Felix Serralles on the sticks and Pat Patel at the wheel took third.

Don Q Rum is still in a heated battle for national points with Drambuie On. Serralles took the blame for placing a distant third behind 'Drambuie' pilots Fuller and Tomlinson. He held back while running through a bank of smoke from a blown Pier 57 Super V race engine in the open water of Lake Erie.

"You see the smoke and you don't know if there's a boat stopped out there," Serralles said. "It was really hard to see. The boats are going so fast, a few seconds is a lot of distance out there."

Factory 1

Fifteen Factory 2 boats took to the calm waters of Lake Erie. Propco Propellers, a 28-foot Warlock piloted by David Corruth and Brian Canty, won the event. MCS Activator, a 26-foot Activator piloted by BJ Maher and Mark Schnepf finished second. SuperboatUSA.com took third.

Factory 2

Jim Arvis and Mitch Miller averaged 76.30 mph to win the Factory 2 event in their 32-foot Fountain Lake Cumberland. Team Virgin, a 38-foot Cigarette hull piloted by Todd Klindworth and Tres Martin, averaged 75.23 mph to finish
second. The 35-foot Fountain UTZ Quality Foods/Pier, driven by Lute Dickey with Matt Rice on the sticks, finished third.

Round six the APBA Offshore ProSeries 2001 tour will be the Offshore Grand Prix of Canada, August 25-26 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
