Challenger boats feature hand-laid Unicore construction and eight layers of hand-laid fiberglass. Even the floor is fiberglass since there is no wood in the boat's interior. A Unicore stringer system and Coremat deck, hull and sides provide strength and rigidity. The hull, an exclusive Challenger Airlift Performance V-hull, features a reverse-lift rail which provides speed, extremely good handling and stability, both at rest and while running.

The Challenger 390 Bass retails at approximately $17,000 to $17,500 with a 125- or 130-horsepower motor, dual fishfinders, trolling motor and custom drive-on trailer.

At 66 inches long, 24 inches wide and 14 inches deep, the dry storage area is probably one of the largest in the industry for a boat this size. Other standard features include dual locking rod boxes and ice chests, a massive tackle lock-up and a secure electronics storage. The oversize front and rear flipping-decks provide plenty of room for two anglers to fish together. Courtesy lighting, retractable rod holders, a molded integral trolling motor panel and Lock-Tite Tempress seats make up the standard boat, as well as a bilge pump, carpeted doors, LCR fishfinder, high thrust trolling motor and two deep-cycle batteries.

The Challenger 390 Bass is available as a single- or dual-console and comes with a blue-printed trailer made of heavy structural steel, custom wheels, bearing protectors, dolly jack and waterproof lights.

If you're just getting started on the tournament trail, the Challenger 390 is a good choice.
