Boston Whaler is the latest company to jump on the app bandwagon, having recently launched an “Unsinkable iPhone App,” a piece of software that will let Whaler owners do everything from find the nearest local launch ramp to contact a Whaler dealer for technical assistance or local knowledge.

“The beauty of this technology is that we can tap in to the local expertise of our owners to ensure all Whaler owners have the best on-water experiences,” explained Jeff Vaughn, Boston Whaler’s Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service. “Through our social networking sites, our owners and fans can provide us with information and links, which we can compile and add to the app in a consolidated, user-friendly platform.”

Other tasks the app will handle include links to local weather forecasts, tide information, Whaler events and rendezvous, and access to the company’s existing social networking sites.

“Boston Whaler strives to be innovative and on the cutting edge of boat building technology and consumer interaction,” continued Vaughn. “Through this new technology, we’re able to provide our owners, fans, dealers, and prospective buyers with a fast, easy way to access all of the information they’re after ─ a portal into the Whaler lifestyle right in the palm of their hands.”

A growing number of marine companies, including Sea Ray, Malibu, and Yamaha, currently have apps available for the iPhone, iPad, or both.

For more information, visit Boston Whaler, or look up the app in Apple's iTunes store.
