ComNav's 1101 autopilot will handle the steering chores for you.

Once thought exotic, autopilot systems are becoming common. One popular choice is the ComNav 1101 Autopilot, which now comes with two outputs for extra versatility.

With provisions for NMEA 0138 output, the 1101 provides heading information to most radar, plotter, Loran and GPS units. Another output uses proprietary Furuno AD10S language, which enables the autopilot to interface with Furuno navigation electronics.

A skipper can program the 1101 autopilot for standby, power steering, pilot and navigation models using knobs and buttons rather than complex menus. The unit's displays use simple words (in English) and icons rather than difficult-to-understand alpha-numeric abbreviations.

Housed in an impact- and water-resistant plastic case, the 1101 can mounted above or below deck, Its control head is approximately 7 inches long, 3-1/2 inches wide and 1 inch deep, and it weighs 3-1/4 pounds.
