Nautor Swan 45
Nautor Swan lauches the new Swan 45
Nautor has launched the first Swan 45 from its Finnish base in Pietarsaari.
This German Frers designed model is viewed as a landmark development as it
features the luxury interior associated with Nautor's Swan, inside a high
performance racing yacht.
This impressive new addition to Nautor's extensive range, has been launched
as a prototype ensuring that the perfect boat is in on the market in March
2002. Thus fulfilling Nautor's concept of building a first class racing
yacht encased in Swan's beautiful designs.
The German Frers designed model sees Nautor return to their roots by
revisiting the mid-size yacht arena, but utilising the leading technology
developed so successfully for the new generation of larger models such as
the Swan 70 and Swan 80. In addition to being highly competitive within the
IMS and IRC classes, the Swan 45's efficiency and simplicity of the rig and
sailplan ensure that it will be enjoyable and easy to handle as a shorthand
cruising yacht.
With the launch of the Swan 45, comes the advent of Nautor's first One
Design Series. The series will commence in 2003 and will provide an
international stage for the Swan 45 to prove its ability on the race course
as well as on the cruising circuit. The present prototype provides the
chance for Nautor to ensure all changes are made prior to its availability,
therefore securing its status as a serious one design yacht.
Enrico Chieffi, Marketing Director for Nautor's Swan commented: "From the
inside, this yacht is unmistakably a Swan. With its impeccable layout, the
Nautor design team has maintained the traditional interior standards and
appearance that have long been associated with Swan models.
"From the outside, the Swan 45 is a pure racing yacht, promising outstanding
performance with its simple and efficient deck layout. The carbon fiber rig
that has become so reliable with the advent of new technology is combined
with swept back spreaders to offer a level of performance that will set new
standards for a yacht of this size."
He concluded: "The Swan 45 heralds an exciting time for Nautor, showcasing
the development in technology without losing the traditional Swan luxury.
Not only will it place Nautor back in the mid-size yacht market, but will
also lead the way for Nautor's first one design class."
The Swan 45 prototype will be present at the Hamburg Boat Show, from 27
October to 4 November 2001. From there, the boat will be moved to the U.K.
for further sail testing in The Solent.
