Two of the biggest challenges facing the sport of sailing today are accessibility and affordability. With those two challenges in mind, the American Sailing Association and Hobie have teamed up to build and promote a new version of the Hobie Wave, a 13-foot sailing catamaran constructed of rotomolded polyethylene. It starts out at an easy-to-stomach $5500.

The two organizations are hoping to build on the momentum created by the latest America's Cup by offering an Oracle-branded and themed version of the nimble 13-foot sailing cat. The latest America's Cup featured insanely huge and incredibly fast 72-foot sailing catamarans.

We had a chance to check out the Hobie Wave at the Miami International Boat Show. Check out the video to get a first glimpse at this cool and affordable sailing setup.
