Sinergia 40, racer/cruiser with winning ways
The Sinergia 40 is a racer/cruiser 40 footer designed by Marcelino Botin and Shaun Carkeek that combines high performance with a comfortable cruising philosophy. Racing in the IMS Class B (racer cruiser), Sinergia 40s took class honors at the 2001 Rolex IMS Offshore World Championship and the recently concluded 2002 Audi IMS European Championship.
The class sandwich hull is lamiated with epoxy and vinylester resins reinforced with E and S glass multiaxial fabrics. The deck is foam and balsa cored and laminated with hybrid glass high modulus multiaxials, with backing plates for the high load, working areas. Reinforcements for the race-optimized rudder and keel are also moulded into the hull. An anchor box is integrated into the bow area of the foredeck (as an option this can be eliminated).
The deep cockpit will give plenty of room for racing crews or for relaxed cruising. Deck hardware is from Frederickson, with stainless steel metalwork, and includes:
- 2 x two speed winches for genoa sheets (size 46)
- 2 x two speed winches for halyard and spin sheets (size 46)
- 2 x two speed winches for main sheet (size 50)
- Round forward hatch. Ports fitted on the coachhouse.
- Stainless steel special Sinergia 40 pushpit, pulpit, stanchion and chainplates.
- Stainless steel lifelines to ORC specifications.
- 2 hatches to cockpit lockers.
- Efficient sail trimming systems throughout.
- Adjustable genoa and traveller cars, and high power backstay system.
The standard mast is aluminum from Sparcraft F460 anodised section, with a boom F810 anodised section, Dyform standing rigging with Ronstan turnbuckles.The optional carbon mast is from Espace Composites with Navtec or OS rod rigging. Ready to be changed into non overlapping genoa into a overlapping genoa configuration.
The race optimized keel is high lift, low center of gravity and is hand faired. Linked to the internal hull structure, it's attached with ten 30mm stainless steel bolts.
The main saloon is fitted with port and starboard settees, table, crew lockers and storage, sculptured foam cushions with quality fabrics. The nav station has provisions for all equipment, electronics and charts.
The galley has a two-burner stove and oven. Other amenties include a circular stainless steel sink, a large capacity icebox (freezer equipment is optional).
The Sinergia sleeps at least 6, with a single forward cabin and twin double cabins.
Plumbing includes:- Fresh water system to galley and head, with modern design faucet.
- Two 100 liter fresh water tanks.
- Flush through hull fitting with special sea cock where applicable.
- Two manual bilge pumps, one internal, one in cockpit.
- One electric bilge pump.
- Shower in head.
- Optional pressure group system, hot water and cockpit shower.
The mechanical and steering equipment of the Sinergia 40 includes:
- 40 HP Volvo diesel with sail drive and alternator, sea water cooling, fuel tank, wet exhaust system and transom discharge.
- Single lever control in cockpit.
- Engine instrument panel with tachometer and alarm.
- Two blade folding propeller.
- Balanced hand made spade carbon rudder and stock with custom rudder bearings
- 1.8 m carbon wheel.
- Optional automatic pilot.
