A Lively Bluewater Cruiser

The Italian shipyard Wally, part of the Ferretti Group, has launched wallywind110, a whippet-fast sporty, luxurious bluewater performance cruiser. It's the latest addition to the new wallywind performance cruiser range which includes the wallywind130 and the wallywind150. All of the supersized performance cruises in this wallywind series range from 110 ft and up to 150 ft.

Congruent with the ocean, its shimmering metallic sky-blue hull changes with the light. With its sleek hull and carbon fiber twin wheels, the Wallywind110 is designed for a new generation of passionate sailors who are comfortable with boats around the 60-80 ft mark and want to enjoy more space.

Its stylish, sleek profile, simple layout, and spacious flush deck appeal to modern cruisers. The vessel was designed with two purposes in mind: as a luxury bluewater cruiser and as a high-performance yacht that thrills on the regatta racecourse .

Most bluewater cruisers average between 50 and 70 feet. This racy 110-footer (33.42m) is designed for seasoned sailors who want to spread their wings and make light work of ocean crossings. Its vast scale provides a superior level of comfort at sea and yet boasts exhilarating cruising performance credentials.

It is easy to handle, maneuverable, and safe, with high bulwarks enabling the crew to work securely without fear of being thrown overboard.

Technical Highlights

The pre-eminent racing naval architecture studio Judel/Vrolijk & Co. optimized a full carbon hull for operational efficiency, with twin rudders, carbon rigging, flush decks, and a low-profile coachroof.

Other key highlights contributing to its performance credentials include:

  • Uber-lightweight lithium-ion batteries and auxiliary equipment.

  • Multiple high-pressure hydraulic pumps for redundancy.

  • A low-profile twin rudder set-up.

  • An underwater anchoring system.

  • A Magic Trim hydraulic system for the main and jib sheets.

Modular Living

The minimalist design continues through to the living areas, which are designed to be clutter-free areas with modular furniture that can be quickly installed to host up to fifteen people in high style.

Space-saving is considered at every juncture. For example, the engine room is beneath the floor deck to enable the crew to maneuver at a pace without obstruction.

Entertaining at Anchor: Layout And Accommodation

An overhead skylight over the coach roof illuminates the full-beam cockpit. The full-beam owner's cabin can be set up with walk-in wardrobes, a private lounge, and his and hers bathroom. Three further guest cabins and an office, plus room for a 5-man crew, are also available. A large tender compartment beneath the deck can house a tender up to 13 ft long, keeping the transom clear for swimmers.

The basketball-pitch-wide decks, from the aft deck and 80sqm guest cockpit to the foredeck lounge, provide multiple entertaining and relaxing areas.

The launch of this first semi-custom sail model since Wally became part of Ferretti Group in 2019 is a very significant moment for us,” says Stefano de Vivo, Wally Managing Director. “Not only does it coincide with the brand’s 30th anniversary, but it also once again confirms how relevant the sailing superyacht sector is for Wally. We have always been leader in this segment, and we aim to continue anticipating market trends by creating yachts capable of becoming true benchmarks in both yachting and design”.
