Yeti –Trident Security Concepts Portable Screamer

I have to admit, half the reason I like this product is its name - it conjures up a comical image.  But the product is no laughing matter .  In fact, it's billed as a first in movable defense against someone walking off with your boat stuff including tools you may leave lying about when you have to run off for a part.  The Yeti by Trident Security Concepts is a portable alarm about the size of a boom box that will do exactly what you might expect a yeti (like an abominable snowman) to do  - it’ll screech at anyone getting near.

The Yeti is entirely self-contained and houses sensors, a bright and flashing light and a siren.  The system is armed with a key fob remote and has a rechargeable battery that will last over two weeks so you can leave your boat for quite a while.  An AC adapter for charging is included.

The Yeti has two types of sensors.  One is a motion detector that will set off the visual or audible alarm if anyone comes to within 25 feet of the front or 12 feet of the back of the device.  This is a passive infrared type of sensor that detects heat so rocking of the boat should not set it off.  However, a nosy seagull might.  The Yeti also has a bump sensor so if anyone tries to move or steal it, it will also activate, because it would be a bummer to have your Yeti stolen.

If you are working on your boat and want to run up to the marina for lunch without having to put your tools away, set up the Yeti.  Just remember to bring the key fob with you so you don't set it off yourself.  You can also use it camping, at the beach, at home or anywhere you want to protect your property.  You can even put it in your dinghy and if anyone tries take off in it, you’ll be the first to know.

The Yeti retails for $249.99 and offers a one year warranty.  For more information or to purchase, visit www.myyeti.com.
