There are so many new fishfinder technologies out there right now that choosing the right unit for your boat can be tough. Very tough - and the choice just got tougher. Lowrance has introduced the Elite 7 CHIRP, an enhancement of the Elite fishfinder line, which incorporates multi-frequency sonar. The Lowrance Elite 7 CHIRP was introduced this spring, but we got a sneak-peek of the unit in action, during two days of fishing with the Lowrance team in the Florida Keys. Take a peek in this short video.

Lowrance Elite Chirp
What's really surprising here is the fact that the cost of upgrading the Elite 7 to the Elite 7 CHIRP is minor-league; it's just $100 more. In fact, the top-of-the-line unit with full built-in chartography and all the bells and whistles MSRP's at $869. Of course, that doesn't mean your choice is going to be any easier; there are also new units for 2014 in this price range, introduced by Humminbird and Garmin.
