VONORE, Tenn. — Keith St. Onge, current U.S. Barefoot
National Trick and Overall Champion, World Games Overall Champion, Slalom and Trick Champion and World Trick Record Holder has joined the MasterCraft Pro Team.
"Keith is the best pro barefooter in the world," said Skip
Gilkerson, MasterCraft's director of skiing, in a press release from the company. "There have been some great barefooters — Siepel, Scarpa and Wing are the three who come to mind. Keith is on that level."
St. Onge, 24, is a three-time National Overall Barefoot
Champion and a two-time U.S. Open Slalom & Trick Champion. In August 2001, St. Onge competed in the World Games in Akita, Japan, where he won three gold medals in men's barefooting. He scored a 16.1 in wake crossing, 6,850 in slalom and tricks, and jumped 66 feet to secure the overall championship with 2,792.61 points. A week earlier he took the overall championship at the U.S. Barefoot Nationals.
Later this month, Onge, who owns a barefoot camp near his home in Tampa, Fla., will travel to New Zealand to coach the Junior World Team. However, his primary goal is winning another world championship.
"I want to ski my best at the World's and break my 8,400 point trick record," said St. Onge in the release. "I know I can kill that record."
