Description
In the center of Rotterdam, we offer the luxury motor Neeltje with a transferable mooring in the Heritage Harbors of Rotterdam. The Neeltje is a spacious houseboat with an original appearance that also sails wonderfully. Technically, the ship is in perfect order with all necessary certificates and was last on the slipway in January 2024. Anyone looking for a spacious and comfortable houseboat with 3 bedrooms should definitely come and see the Neeltje in Rotterdam.
SurroundingsThe Maritime District is a vibrant part of the city. The terraces and restaurants along the Oude Haven, the Markthal and the Market, the Willemsbrug, the Library, and the Laurenskerk are nearby. The major shopping streets Hoogstraat, Coolsingel, and Lijnbaan are also within walking distance. Additionally, you will find the Willem de Kooning Academy, the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, and Erasmus University close by.
The accessibility of the location is excellent. The ship is located 400 meters from the metro, 500 meters from NS station Blaak, and 300 meters from the Maasboulevard, which provides access to the Ring Road East after 1.5 km. There is parking and loading space for cars along the quay. A parking permit is available for owners/residents.
From the Oostplein, you can walk in a quarter of an hour along the canals to the Kralingse Bos and the Kralingse Plas. Via the Maasboulevard, you can easily reach the Esch, the Noordereiland, or the Maritime Museum and the Spido sightseeing boats. With the water taxi, you can quickly cross the Nieuwe Maas for a visit to museums, theater, the Fenixloods, or Hotel New York. The water bus makes it easy to sail to Dordrecht.
The Haringvliet is connected to the Nieuwe Maas via two bridges. Within a day of sailing, you can reach the Biesbosch via Dordrecht, Wijk bij Duurstede via the Lek, or Gouda via the Hollandsche IJssel with the Neeltje.
LayoutThe wheelhouse features a long bench, providing a nice seating area with 360-degree views of the harbor. Next to the large wooden steering wheel are the engine controls and the instrument panel, two VHF radios, and the AIS. At the back of the wheelhouse, there is a door that leads to the roof deck with a spacious rooftop terrace. The elegant cuckoo can also be used as a bench.
The original skipper's house in the roef has been converted into a spacious kitchen, featuring a large fridge-freezer, a four-burner induction cooktop with a hood, and an electric convection oven. The custom-made maple wood kitchen offers ample storage space with spacious drawers and cabinets. Along the walls, there are two long benches and a short fixed bench, with storage space underneath. Next to the foldable stairs to the wheelhouse is a compact toilet.
From the wheelhouse, a staircase leads to the living area along the tea hut, which is set up as a wardrobe and provides space for the washing machine and dryer.
In the former cargo hold, there is a large living room with plenty of daylight. In the living room, there is a fixed wall of cabinets with a desk on one side. The pellet stove provides pleasant warmth. From the living room, a hallway leads forward, providing access to a large bedroom with a walk-in closet on one side and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower, toilet, and sink unit on the other side. At the end of the hallway, there are two bedrooms separated by a folding sliding wall. The forepeak is accessible from the outside via a spacious entrance cuckoo and is set up as a workspace.
HistoryThe ship was built in 1924 at the Suylekom shipyard in Raamsdonkveer with a 45 hp Bolnes glow head engine. The previous owners bought the ship in 1992 directly from freight shipping. They replaced everything in the engine room, welded a steel deck in the hold, and converted the hold into a home with 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room. From the roef, the original home of the skipper's family (behind the wheelhouse), they created a large kitchen. In 2000/2001, they sailed with their 2 children (then 8 and 12 years old) for a whole year through Belgium and France, all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. The current owner has owned the Neeltje since 2009. She has mainly sailed with the Neeltje in the Netherlands.
Mooring optionsOn board the Neeltje in the Heritage Harbors, you are part of a quiet historical harbor in the heart of the largest port city in Europe. This is where Rotterdam originated about 700 years ago. Among the more than 100 historical ships in the Heritage Harbors, there is a sense of community and helpfulness. Additionally, the Stadswerf Koningspoort is located at the Oude Haven, featuring a shipyard, a crane, and a metal and woodworking shop, where historical ships can go for maintenance, including the underwater hull.
The fixed costs for the Neeltje are the annual mooring fee to the Stichting Erfgoedhavens Rotterdam (approximately €1,900) including environmental and waste disposal fees.
Technology
The ship is equipped with gangways, a rear deck, and a spacious foredeck. A new wooden hatch cover has been installed on the welded cover. A dinghy can be placed on the hatch cover, which can be launched with a davit attached to the tea hut. There is a sturdy high railing around the gangway. On the foredeck, there is an anchor winch for two clip anchors, and on the aft ship, there is a grapnel anchor. At the front and back of the hatch cover, there are storage compartments for mooring lines and other ship materials. The light mast is attached to the front storage compartment.
The engine room houses all the technology: the DAF main engine, a 230/400 V generator, four batteries, two inverters/battery chargers, an extra diesel heater, a boiler, a wastewater pump, and a hydrophore. The engine room also contains two diesel tanks of 1100 liters each and a wastewater tank of 1500 liters. Together with a 5000-liter freshwater tank in the forepeak, the ship is self-sufficient during longer voyages.
The central heating boiler in the hold runs on pellets and is connected in the engine room to a diesel backup system. All living spaces in the ship and the engine room are equipped with radiators. The ship is exceptionally well insulated and can be kept warm in winter with low-temperature heating. The windows in the roef, wheelhouse, and hold can be opened for ventilation and cooling. On very hot days, a built-in fan provides cooling.
On both sides, cable ducts have been installed under the gangway for the piping. The hatch cover has a large moving hatch to get large furniture into the living area.
In January 2024, the ship was out of the water for inspection and maintenance. The bottom reports from 2017, 2011, and 2004 are available. The ship is equipped with a CBB safety certificate, which will be renewed in 2024. The technology is in order; there are smoke detectors and the required fire extinguishers and life jackets on board. The ship is also registered with a Blue Passport in the Register Varend Erfgoed Nederland as a sailing monument.
