Description

This 100’ naval vessel has a USA-built steel hull and is Jones Act compliant. She has been converted into a custom excursion yacht and underwent a major refit in 2019. Features include five guest staterooms with heads and two galleys. Trades considered.

Red Cloud is a WWII US Navy vessel named after the American Indian Chief. It has fair above water lines resembling a 1900’s fantail yacht, and is trimmed functionally with a comfortable deck angle. The original Enterprise DMQ-8 develops 1,000 hp at 300 rpm, as close to a steam engine as it gets. The main engine has a melodic sound, propelling the ship about ten knots at a gallon or so per nautical mile. Because the 49-ton engine rests deep in the steel hull, 100% natural stability always, producing as comfortable a ride as possible and always appreciated by passengers.

Command of the vessel from the bridge is supported by a state of the art Furuno touchscreen with chart overlaying radar and class A-AIS information complete with autopilot. Redundant Blackbox JRC radar and charting systems are installed. The pilot house has a six-place settee with eight bronze port lights. The settee can be automatically lowered into a bed via electric actuators, making for a fifth queen berth, and increasing sleeping capacity by 20%.

Access to the boat deck is by centerline stairs to the main deck, also ladders on either side and a staircase aft.

The main deck has a queen berth forward with head en-suite, as does every cabin on board. A complete galley to starboard, enclosed fidley walkway center, and head, laundry with beverage cabinets to port. Aft is dining space, a fireplace, and the aft mast defines the main salon with window hatch and large passenger port lights. There are doors leading to below deck and the quarter deck galley. You’ll discover the favorite gathering place on the ship is where BBQ and entertaining is easy.

The focsle cabin is accessed by a centerline staircase and has a tub, fireplace, and two escapes. A door to the engine room is found aft. To port is a Scottish boiler, hot water, DC electric board, two Northern Lights 20kW generators and hydraulic pump. A third 40kW generator supplies the main engine systems. To starboard are the main engine oil tank, filter, electric oil and fuel transfer pumps, USCG approved MSD, battery banks and inverters, a 12kva isolation transformer and backup rectifier. There are four escapes from the engine space.

Through the center door aft are the port and starboard queen staterooms with heads. Aft is the stairs to main deck, further aft is crew space for three and another head and second sink. The crew space has two escape routes.

This vessel is one of the finest remaining examples of wartime craftsmanship and its impossible to describe all her qualities here. Please make an appointment and enjoy your visit aboard Red Cloud.
