72 ft Darling Yachts Custom Aluminum Pilothouse - NORTHÂ
Asking $1,100,000 CAD
(*additional pictures and videos will be added soon)
This remarkable custom aluminum yacht was crafted by Darling Yachts in Jeffersonville, Indiana and completed in 2002 after more than four years of meticulous construction. Built to full saltwater specification using quarter-inch aluminum plating, the hull is so well faired and painted in Imron that most observers assume it's fiberglass. But the structure beneath is pure commercial-grade strength with the heart and soul of a finely detailed motor yacht.
Commissioned by a Canadian owner for extended cruising along the Pacific Northwest coast and into Alaska, this 72-foot pilothouse yacht is a rare blend of strength, luxury, and purpose-driven design. Her current owner has used her extensively along the British Columbia coast but is now transitioning to small local commuter boat.
Over the last two years, nearly every system and surface has been upgraded or restored to superior standards. A June 2023 survey declared her to be in "above average" condition, and since then, more than $300,000 CAD has been invested in professional hull restoration, mechanical corrections, and general modernization. More than 500 labor hours were dedicated to bringing the hull back to a pristine state, and every item noted during the mechanical inspection has been professionally resolved. The result is a yacht that is not only turnkey but exceptionally well prepared for coastal or offshore voyaging.
NORTH is powered by a pair of Cummins 450hp Diamond Series diesels with under 2900 hours each, complemented by two Westerbeke 32kW generators (3000 hrs). Her systems include hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, dual Glendinning controls, and an engine room with redundant filtration, Algae-X fuel conditioning, and a professional-grade oil exchange system.
Interior accommodations feature a level of finish rarely seen in modern production yachts. Cherry cabinetry, arched doors with solid brass Baldwin hardware, tongue and groove ceilings, and birdseye maple stairs reflect the craftsmanship of a fine home. The main salon and dining area are furnished in custom leather and accented with black ebony inlaid tables crafted from 500-year-old reclaimed oak. The master stateroom offers king-sized comfort, seven-foot ceilings, and abundant cedar-lined storage. Guest quarters include a cleverly designed L-shaped twin berth layout.
The pilothouse is the command center, spanning the entire beam with dual Stidd helm chairs in green leather, an Edson teak wheel, and a full electronics suite including Furuno radar, FLIR thermal imaging, Garmin GPS, SSB radio, and Nobeltec navigation software. A raised settee and workstation allow for comfortable long-range operation.
Additional amenities include:
Highfield 16-foot aluminum RIB with 90hp Yamaha
Custom davit mounted at transom
Webasto and Flagship Marine heating systems
Bose surround sound, satellite TV, and LG OLED display
Full laundry, pantry, and attic-style storage
Foam insulation and soundproofing throughout
Sub-Zero full size Fridge and separate Freezer
There may be an opportunity to transfer or secure moorage in Vancouver, making this vessel even more attractive to regional buyers.
NORTH is a vessel built to last, outfitted to cruise, and finished to impress. Whether you're looking for a serious long-range coastal explorer or a unique liveaboard with yacht club presence, she is an exceptional offering unlike anything else in her class.
Full maintenance records, recent survey, and mechanical inspection reports are available to qualified buyers.
