Mechanical Equipment
Lugger 668 (marinized John Deere 6068) main engine with new belt and vibration dampener. Spare new injectors. 6068 is an extremely popular motor in commercial fishing, tractors, compressors, excavators,etc. Extremely reliable motor 20,000 to 30,000 hr service life. With only 3000 hrs this meticulously maintained motor has a long life ahead of it. Being a common industrial engine provides worldwide parts availability at reasonable prices. Rated at 105hp burning 1.7gph at 1500 rpm. Oahu to Ensenada consumed 1200 gallons for 2700 Nm into prevailing winds and currents. 2.25nm/gal at an average speed of 7.2 knots. Incredible economy for a 60k lb boat, with 500g of extra fuel bladders on deck. Slowing to 6 knots considerably drops fuel consumption. Motor is keel cooled for ultimate reliability and a spare brand new keel cooler is onboard.($3k value)
