This cabin layout makes the Rampage 33 Express a versatile platform—comfortable enough for family cruising yet rugged and practical for serious anglers who spend long days on the water.

Deck Features

The fishing layout on the 2006 Rampage 33 Express is engineered for anglers who expect efficiency, durability, and room to work. This section of the boat is one of its biggest selling points, combining a wide, uncluttered cockpit with tournament‑ready equipment and smart storage solutions.

Expansive Cockpit — The oversized cockpit provides the working space needed for multiple anglers to fish comfortably. High gunnels and non‑skid decking add safety and stability when fighting fish in rougher conditions.

In‑Deck Insulated Fishboxes — Large, macerated fishboxes are molded into the deck, offering generous capacity for storing the day’s catch. Their placement keeps the cockpit open and organized while making cleanup simple.

Livewell and Bait Prep Station — A dedicated livewell ensures healthy bait throughout the day, while the integrated prep station provides space for rigging, cutting, and organizing tackle.

Rod Storage and Rocket Launchers — Multiple rod holders along the gunnels, plus rocket launchers on the hardtop or tower legs, give anglers plenty of options for trolling spreads, storage, and quick access during hookups.

Tackle Drawers and Gear Storage — Built‑in tackle drawers and compartments keep gear secure and within reach. The layout minimizes clutter and maximizes efficiency during active fishing.

Transom Door — A heavy‑duty transom door makes landing large fish safer and easier, and also provides convenient access for diving or boarding from the water.

Outriggers (If Equipped) — Factory or aftermarket outriggers expand trolling capabilities, allowing for wider spreads and improved bait presentation offshore.

Wide Walkaround Access — Generous side decks with secure handholds make it easy to move forward to the bow, whether handling lines, anchoring, or spotting fish.

Washdown Systems — Both freshwater and saltwater washdowns are typically included, making it simple to clean the cockpit and equipment throughout the day.

The overall design reflects Rampage’s reputation for building serious offshore fishing machines—rugged, practical, and ready for tournament‑level action while still offering the comfort expected in a premium express boat.

Engine Performance

The 2006 Rampage 33 Express is known for its confident offshore ride, and expanding this section helps buyers understand exactly why this hull-and-engine package is so respected. The combination of the Rampage deep‑V and the twin Cummins 5.9L diesels gives the boat a performance profile that appeals to both serious anglers and weekend cruisers.

Twin Cummins 5.9L Diesels — These engines are widely regarded for their reliability, clean power delivery, and excellent torque curve. Their mechanical simplicity compared to newer electronic engines makes them easier to service and maintain, a major selling point for long‑term owners.

Efficient Cruise Speeds — The 5.9L Cummins package typically delivers an efficient cruise in the mid‑20‑knot range, offering a strong balance of speed and fuel economy. This allows long offshore runs without excessive fuel burn.

Strong Hole Shot and Mid‑Range Power — The torque of the Cummins diesels provides quick acceleration and responsive throttle control, especially valuable when maneuvering around structure, adjusting trolling patterns, or getting on plane in heavier seas.

Deep‑V Hull Stability — Rampage’s hull design is known for its ability to cut through chop while maintaining a dry, predictable ride. The boat tracks well at speed and remains stable at drift or troll, making it comfortable for anglers and passengers alike.

Balanced Weight Distribution — The placement of the engines and fuel tanks contributes to a level running attitude, reducing bow rise and improving visibility from the helm during acceleration.

Responsive Handling — Hydraulic steering and a well‑designed running surface give the 33 Express a tight turning radius and confident handling, even in quartering seas.

Sound Dampening and Smooth Operation — Rampage incorporated insulation and vibration‑reducing materials throughout the engine room and deck structure, resulting in quieter operation and reduced fatigue on long runs.

Extended Range Capability — With generous fuel capacity and efficient diesel power, the boat is well‑suited for long offshore days, canyon trips, or multi‑day excursions.

The overall performance package makes the Rampage 33 Express a dependable offshore platform—fast enough to cover ground, efficient enough for long days, and rugged enough to handle challenging conditions with confidence.

Core Performance Numbers
These values come from verified 2006 Rampage 33 Express listings with Cummins 5.9 QSB 380 HP engines.
Cruising Speed: 26 knots
Top Speed (Max Speed): 31 knots
Engine Type: Cummins QSB 5.9, 380 HP each (760 HP total)
RPM Estimates (Based on Typical Cummins QSB 5.9 Curves)
These are not boat‑specific published numbers but are consistent with Cummins 5.9 performance behavior:
Cruise RPM: ~2400–2600 RPM
This is where QSB 5.9 engines typically produce an efficient cruise in the mid‑20‑knot range.
WOT (Max RPM): ~3000 RPM
The QSB 5.9 is designed to turn 3000 RPM at wide‑open throttle under proper load.
Estimated Range
The Rampage 33 Express carries 338 gallons of fuel.
Range varies with load, sea state, and hull condition, but typical QSB 5.9 burn rates allow a solid estimate:
Cruise Fuel Burn: ~22–26 GPH total (both engines)
Usable Fuel: ~300 gallons (after 10–15% reserve)
Estimated Range at 26 knots:
300 gallons ÷ 24 GPH ≈ 12.5 hours
12.5 hours × 26 knots ≈ 325 nautical miles
Estimated real‑world range: 300–350 NM
This aligns with what owners report for similar 33–35 ft express boats with twin QSB 5.9s.
