Brenta 38: Italian Elegance
Brenta 38: luxury day sailer
The new Brenta 38 is simply described by its designer, Luca Brenta, as a 'real day sailer'. He might have described this glorious-looking new high performance luxury boat more succinctly as, 'only in Italy'.
The nation that gave us Wally Yachts, with all that company's outstanding styling and technical innovation, could be relied upon to produce something special at the smaller size for those who are honest enough to admit that the number of nights they intend to spend afloat each year will be countable on one hand.
A combination of a very high ballast ratio, a large carbon rig by Hall Spars and a high spec. composite lay-up ensure good performance, while a carefully refined hydraulic winch package eliminates the need for a large (read 'any') crew.
Fast-acting hydraulic systems by Cariboni take care of headsail and mainsail sheeting, main halyard and headsail furler, vang and also mainsheet traveller. The headsail is also self-tacking, with the twin-ended sheet terminating at a separate stopper for large adjustments and furling.
An automated flush-fitting below-hull anchoring system with a powered (of course) underdeck windlass completes an elegant package. The interior is minimalist but what is there is well finished with stylish cushioned seating, plus an adequate galley and head.
At a base price of 220,000 euros, surely Luca Brenta's latest creation, beautifully built by Adria Sail, is the ultimate two-hander? Or even the ideal singlehander for those who wish to do it in style...
