There is no second
New America's Cup painting by Anthony D. Blake
On early Cowes Week, 8 August in the evening, the Cowes-based gallery Bluegreen Pictures will have a special viewing to present the first four prints of the 150 limited edition of the Anthony Blake's painting " There is no second".
It is perhaps one of Blake's most famous pieces of the schooner America crossing the finish line off The Castle in Cowes, Isle of Wight on 22nd August 1851. This significant, historical moment has never been immortalised by a maritime painter. Each individual print can be considered an original and collectable work of art as it will carry a unique sketch (remarque) by the artist, which can be personalized if required, with his signature and the edition number. This is also the first time that Anthony Blake produces a print of his scarce paintings.
From New Zealand, Anthony Blake, brother of the late Sir Peter Blake, was born in 1951 to a family devoted to both sailing and art. His much sought after paintings of Classic yachts and America's Cup races reside among private collectors around the world, all in pursuit of his exceptional skills rendered upon canvas to the smallest detail and with stunning use of colour and composition. Nowadays, Anthony Blake is one of the top five marine artists in the world, producing only a dozen of new paintings a year.
Bluegreen is the only worldwide website to present a selection of Anthony's best America's Cup and Classic Yachts paintings. You can view the entire collection by visiting the website at: www.bluegreenpictures.com (in clicking on the Sailing Watersports section)
