Spacious Lemsteraak with a rich history. Sailing Monument
Description:
Two closed aft cabins each with a sleeping space of approximately 1.10 x 2.40 m (1-2 persons), owner's cabin with a double bed of 1.60 x 2.00 m and a "forepeak" with two double sleeping places of approximately 1.30 x 2.20 m, including two smaller beds of approximately 1.80 x 1.00 m, to be used for smaller guests or luggage.
The L-shaped sofa in the salon can be converted into an extra double bed of 1.60 x 2.00 meters.
In the corridor between the salon and the forepeak is the galley with sink, stove, oven, and storage space.
Between the pantry and forepeak, under a large two-part teak hatch, is the corridor with a large 230-volt refrigerator on the starboard side and a toilet and washroom on the port side. Planar 8DM diesel air heater newly installed in 2020.
The rigging has been completely renewed over time with sails from 2011, mast, boom, jib boom, and standing rigging from 2013, and in 2023 the gaff.
6-cylinder Mercedes engine (OM 603 without turbo) with 106 hp was marinized by NG-Shipyard in 2023 and installed in July.
Lemsteraak de Vlieland is one of the oldest large Dutch Lemsteraken. The ship was built in 1909 in open fisherman configuration for Enkhuizen fisherman Jan Goos and was sold by him in 1914 as a "pleasure craft." Jan Goos was one of the first charter skippers with paying guests from Amsterdam. The Vlieland can be considered an early "baker's measure" of the brown fleet.
The Vlieland was converted in the 1920s to its current form as a yacht. The interior paneling of the deckhouse, the aft cabins, and the salon largely retains the original paneling of oak and ebony.
The Vlieland is registered as a sailing monument. You can find the rich history of this ship at: https://www.ssrp.nl/stamboek/schepen/vlieland-84
