Description
JUBILEE is Hull #7 of the seven Columbia Constellations built between 1966 and 1967. Â From the available literature, it appears that the hull and underbody were borrowed from the Charlie Morgan-designed Columbia 38, and the deck design borrowed from the Bill Tripp-designed Columbia 50. Â The design influence of both designers is clearly evident in the Columbia Constellation. Â Interestingly, Columbia didn't attribute either designer in its sales brochures for the boat. Â
JUBILEE is a highly pedigreed design, her hull shape developed through Charlie Morgan’s 1962/63 tank testing performed for the 1964 America's Cup defense. JUBILEE's hull design originated with Morgan's test model #2117, nicknamed "Eagle," with unique features, including fullness forward and flatness runout under the counter stern. Her buoyancy forward makes Jubilee an unusually dry sailer in rough, choppy seas. Her flatness aft makes her an exceptional sailer in following seas and off wind work. The five foot test model "Eagle" remains alive today, reproduced by at least 25 manufacturers across the USA, beginning in the early 1960's, currently actively raced in 5 countries with 1,450 boats registered, as the radio-controlled AMYA East Coast 12 Meter Class (EC12). The EC12 is revered for her "real yacht" sailing qualities and readily recognized, sleek hull. Bill Tripp's deck, cockpit. and cabin design provide JUBILEE with many attractive features typical of larger yachts. Her large cockpit, brightly lit interior, near flush foredeck, and large sail-handling hatch all contribute to her uniqueness and celebrate Tripp's signature features. JUBILEE's design legacy, timeless beauty, and performance attributes make her a unique and excellent choice in this ever-increasing era of classic yacht activity and interest.
JUBILEE's owner purchased her in Marblehead, MA in 2007 from an owner who had owned her for 22 years. Â Here's what was written in the listing from 2007:
"JUBILEE is essentially a custom boat. The owner has had her for 22 years and has replaced virtually everything in the past 5 years. She has a new Selden spar and boom, new Awlgrip topsides, Westerbeke diesel engine rebuilt in 2001, new propane system, with Force 10 stove with oven. She is a head-turner with her classic lines, and pleasure to sail."
Since 2007 JUBILEE's current owner has given her an exceptional level of care.Â

Owner's Comments
Nothing is of greater pleasure than the frequent approach of an admiring fellow boater. Many make dedicated efforts to row alongside JUBILEE or motor close enough to offer "Your boat is beautiful. What is she?" The response to my answer is typically, "Well, she is a beauty" and never "I thought so." Â JUBILEE is an unexpected treasure to behold, and her ownership brings pleasure in her admiration by the knowledgeable sailor. She is the last of seven Columbia Constellations built, with no known sisterships on the East Coast. That makes her very unique and of immediate intrigue to all who admire her.
