Description

The Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus 35 is a hallmark of Scandinavian boatbuilding, designed by the legendary Olle Enderlein and built to a standard that helped establish Hallberg-Rassy’s global reputation for quality and seaworthiness. “Dragon Lady” is a well-appointed example of the model that helped establish the iconic builder’s legacy. Produced between 1967 and 1978, it was also one of the first sailing yachts in the world to feature a center cockpit. With nearly 760 hulls built, the Rasmus 35 gained international respect for its full-keel stability, forgiving motion at sea, and enduring construction.

Yachting critics and publications have consistently recognized the Rasmus 35 for its pioneering blend of comfort and capability. Often cited as ahead of its time, the model combined the power and tankage of a motor-sailor with the balance and grace of a true offshore cruiser. Its hand-laid fiberglass hull, robust joinery, and thoughtful layout were crafted for serious passage making, yet refined enough to appeal to owners seeking traditional beauty and durability. In reviews and owner communities alike, the Rasmus is praised as a dependable classic—ideal for sailors who value integrity of build and a timeless aesthetic that continues to inspire decades later.

“Dragon Lady” presents a compelling opportunity for a hands-on sailor or enthusiast looking for classic Hallberg-Rassy with strong bones and beautiful lines.

Accommodations

The Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus 35 features a thoughtful and practical layout that reflects her dual purpose as a capable bluewater cruiser and a comfortable liveaboard. Starting forward, a spacious V-berth provides a private sleeping area with ample storage, including drawers and a hanging locker. Aft of the forward cabin is the head compartment, located to port, which doubles as a wet locker and includes a marine toilet, sink, and handheld shower, with practical access from both forward and main saloon areas.

The main saloon is inviting and traditionally styled, with a U-shaped dinette to port and galley to starboard. A folding teak drop-leaf table sits centrally, offering generous dining or working space. The navigation station is positioned aft to starboard, just inside the companionway. The galley includes deep sinks, ample storage, and gimbaled stove placement for safe cooking underway. One of the most distinctive features of the Rasmus layout is the separate aft cabin, accessed via the cockpit, which offers additional berths and a sense of privacy rarely found on boats of this size. The center cockpit design creates separation between living spaces and contributes to both safety and comfort under sail.
