Description
ANNIE M is a custom-built Amel 52 ketch, based on the legendary Amel Mango hull and comprehensively transformed over the past twenty years into a modern, highly capable bluewater passagemaker. Acquired by her current owners with the intention of serious offshore cruising, the yacht has been thoughtfully and systematically rebuilt—structurally, mechanically, and cosmetically—to meet contemporary expectations for safety, comfort, and long-range reliability. Beginning with her robust hull, most bulkheads have been reinforced with Sapele overlay and freshly tabbed to the hull in the style of the newer Amel yachts. Tankage, electrical systems, rigging, and onboard systems have been renewed or upgraded throughout, reflecting an uncompromising approach to offshore preparation.
Her proven ketch rig, protected center cockpit, and well-balanced hull form deliver the seakindly motion, redundancy, and heavy-weather confidence for which Amel yachts are renowned. Below decks, ANNIE M offers a warm, secure, and intelligently reconfigured two-cabin layout, with a beautiful custom-built salon table, fully rebuilt galley with Corian countertops and modern refrigeration, new heads and plumbing, upgraded climate control, and carefully executed joinery throughout. Systems accessibility, redundancy, and serviceability remain central to her design, underscored by a complete ABYC-compliant rewire, modern Victron power management, upgraded navigation electronics, new rigging and sails, and numerous safety enhancements.
The result is a yacht that retains the core virtues that made Henri Amel’s designs legendary—strength, offshore competence, and conservative engineering—while benefiting from decades of knowledgeable ownership and continuous investment. A competitor in the 2022 Vic-Maui Yacht Race, ANNIE M is a proven ocean-going design, extensively refit and fully prepared for extended passagemaking and comfortable cruising.
