Description
"Serafina" has already completed a circumnavigation and is ready for the next adventure. Both Main and Generator have been rebuild and all Chain Plates and Standing Rigging Replaced.
The 1980 Nordic 44 stands as a testament to thoughtful yacht design from the early 1980s, crafted by acclaimed naval architect Robert Perry for Nordic Yachts in Bellingham, Washington. This sailboat was conceived as a bluewater cruiser with a racer's edge, offering a perfect blend of speed, stability, and comfort for adventurous sailors. With only a limited production run ending in 1989—totaling around 39 hulls—it has become a sought-after classic among offshore enthusiasts. Perry's vision emphasized effortless handling, making it ideal for solo voyages or small crews tackling long passages, all while exuding an elegant, timeless aesthetic. As Perry himself has stated, the Nordic 44 "is the most beautiful yacht we have had built to our designs." He further praised its performance, noting that it "has beautiful helm balance, is close winded and fast. It's like a big pussycat," and emphasized, "I think it is one of my very best designs." Perry has also highlighted its superiority in sailing qualities, saying it "does everything the Valiant 40 does and does it all far better," and affirmed, "If you are after a cruising boat that is rewarding to sail you could do far worse than a Nordic 44."
