Description
For Sale: 1980 Pearson 424 – Proven Bluewater Cruiser
Location: Nestled in one of the world's most stunning and sought-after cruising grounds and off-grid ready, this 1980 Pearson 424 sloop offers up an affordable opportunity to start your sailing adventure! She's already fully set up for cruising, her current owners have been living aboard and sailing through the Caribbean for the last ten years. Kailani is ready to continue her journey
A True Passage-Maker
Designed by the esteemed William Shaw—Pearson Yachts’ visionary chief designer—the Pearson 424 is renowned as a bluewater cruiser that blends solid construction, exceptional handling, and timeless lines. With her deep fin keel, skeg-hung rudder, and powerful sloop rig, she’s built to inspire confidence whether you’re coastal cruising or chasing horizons across oceans. She's rigged simply for easy handling, capable in strong winds and is very comfortable underway.
Built to Last
Pearson Yachts earned their reputation for crafting rugged, well-balanced boats that stand the test of time. The 424’s solid fiberglass hull and proven deck layout make her an ideal platform for long-distance voyaging. Her build quality is a testament to American boatbuilding at its peak—sturdy, reliable, and refreshingly straightforward to maintain. She has beautiful stainless steel portlights, each with their own port visor; an important feature for cruising in the tropics. Her deck is spacious with a high bulwark for safely moving about underway and there is a custom stainless steel addition to the stanchions for storing extra jerry cans or dive tanks. She has akeel stepped aluminum mast with oversized rigging which was replaced 9 years ago by the current owner. Recent upgrades include two brand new halyards, new genoa sheets, new stackpack and lazy jacks.
Spacious Interior Layout
Below deck, her warm teak accents, generous headroom, and spacious accommodations for six make for a comfortable liveaboard or long-range cruiser. She boasts a layout that prioritizes practicality at sea and privacy —ample storage, a safe galley, roomy berths and two companionways so the cabins can be accessed separately.
Your Adventure Begins Here
Whether you're planning a circumnavigation or a slow island-hop through paradise, the Pearson 424 offers the perfect platform. Proven, dependable, and unmistakably elegant, Kailani comes with ample spare parts and tools. She is outfitted with an oversized 85lb Mantus anchor, 300' of 5/16" G43 chain and Lofrans windlass (new in 2024). The tender is a 10' Caribe inflatable with 18hp outboard in excellent condition.
