Description
1982 Cavalier 39 "Kiwa": A classically designed, fully outfitted, true bluewater cruiser
Cavalier 39s, built in New Zealand to handle the Southern Ocean, are excellent bluewater boats as well as excellent sailing boats. This is a solid boat built to sail around the world, and designed for you to enjoy the sail the whole way. The modified fin keel provides maneuverability, great performance upwind, and steady tracking downwind.
Kiwa is fully outfitted with all systems required for self-sufficiency and long-range cruising, including a Monitor wind vane, two autopilots, 260 watts of solar, AIS transceiver, radar, multiple GPS units, EPIRB and PPIRB, life raft, roller furling, removable inner forestay, etc. There is a tremendous amount of storage throughout, filled with spares for every eventuality at sea. Her interior and exterior wood was all completely refinished in early 2020. She was hauled out and sanded/painted. There are only 200 hours on the Kubota 46 hp engine, which has been completely rebuilt in May 2024.
There is a comfortable v-berth, lee cloth on the starboard settee berth, and the table within the port U-shaped settee in the salon goes down to make a large additional bed. The nav station is in the quarterberth (which has a door), making for quick access to instruments and the cockpit while on a passage. Check out her full inventory to see all she has to offer!
This vessel is located in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, perfectly situated to explore the Sea of Cortez.. Come and let the experts in yacht ownership here in Mexico, show you how easy it is to begin your cruising dreams today.
