CONSTRUCTION:

Built in 1984. GRP construction with white topsides and superstructure, blue non slip decks, twin bilge keels, fractional Bermudan sloop rig, self draining aft cockpit with tiller steering, 5 berth internal layout in 2 cabins with a maximum headroom of around 6’1”.

SAILS and RIG:

Fully-battened mainsail (Crusader 2022) with slab reefing and Stackpack/sail cover (Crusader).  Harken genoa roller reefing system (2014).  Genoa, working jib, storm jib and cruising chute.   Alloy mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging renewed in 2014.  Demountable inner forestay. Boom lock (gybe controller) 2017.  Telescopic spinnaker pole mounted on mast track 2014.

ENGINE:

Bukh DV20ME twin cylinder 20hp inboard diesel engine (1984).  Shaft drive to 2 blade fixed propeller.  Cruising speed under engine is around 4 knots with a max speed of about 6 knots.  Fuel consumption is around 1/3 gallon per hour.  20 gallon fuel tank.

ELECTRICS:

Alternator charging to 4 x 12v batteries (1 x engine start, 1 x windlass, 2 x domestic). Solar panel. 240v shore power, inverter, LED lights.  Inverter installed 2019.

DECK GEAR:

Stainless steel pushpit, pulpit and guardwires, Sprayhood (2015), spray dodgers, full cockpit canopy (Jeckells 2020), 4 vinyl cockpit cushions, spinnaker pole, 2 Harken self tailing sheet winches, 2 secondary sheet winches, 2 halyard winches, inflatable dinghy with Yamaha 2 stroke 2.5hp outboard motor, Kobra 12kg anchor with 30m of 8mm chain and 50m of multiplait, Lofrans Cobra electric anchor windlass, Fortress kedge anchor, boat hooks, deck brush, top Climber portable mast steps), mooring warps and 7 fenders. DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT:

Her galley has a Neptune 4500 camping gaz cooker with 2 burners, grill and oven, refrigerator, water supply to sink is from a 20 gallon tank. Her separate heads compartment has a marine toilet and wash basin.

ACCOMMODATION:

5 berths. Note - Interior relining completion imminent.

REMARKS:

"Speedwell" was purchased by her present owner in 2014, he changed the name from "Comino 4".  She had a professional survey carried out at the time.  Since then, she has been sailed to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, the West coast of Scotland,  the Orkney Islands and the Outer Hebrides.

She has been equipped for serious cruising, including windvane self steering, upgraded winches, electric anchor windlass and a de-mountable inner forestay.  A cockpit canopy was also added to increase the comfort when anchored.
