Description
Designed by Mark Ellis to be a go-anywhere cruiser with a comfortable layout below and on deck and in the cockpit. They have circumnavigated and their owners offer great reviews on all counts.
George Hinterhoeller built these fine vessels in St Catherines, Ontario with constant input from Mark Ellis.
The “ Encore “ features:
A large double berth forward, separated from the main saloon by a head and shower.
A u-shaped galley is located to port just inside the companionway, with a quarterberth and nav station to starboard.
The main salon has settees on port and starboard sides with a generous dinning table to port. The table top swings out to provide table space for the starboard side settee.
FRESH WATER VESSEL
Sequoya III has enjoyed being cared for by two dedicated owners and is now offered for sale.
Since buying the boat in 2009, the owner invested ~ $ 25000 in the following
- Repaint the boot. Bottom repainted and hull/deck polished professionally every year since that time, boat stored indoors
- Wind, knot, depth instruments replaced and fiberglass redone to accommodate them, new lifelines, new lines and fenders, wheel pedestal repainted last year
- New dodger, bimini, and stack pack for the main sail from Genco in 2009.
- This canvas was replaced in 2025 by Suncoast Goderich. The old set from Genco, with full enclosure is still on the boat but have not had a chance to put the lines on the stack pack as it was completed after the sails were taken down this fall. The old lines are in good shape and will work with the new stack pack
- Down below, all the cushions were replaced with new foam, cream coloured, leather-like Sunbrella in sitting area and gray coloured patterned fabric in quarter berth and forward cabin, matching cushions down below and full cockpit cushions from 2009.
- Refrigeration replaced about 2018.
- There is a larger genoa and storm sail and spinnaker pole in storage.
- The diesel engine is the original, 29 HP Westerbeke W 27, and has about 1300 hours on it. It is tuned up every year by Bayfield Marine.
- Routine things like a couple of impellers, new hoses last year, batteries regularly serviced and replaced.
- Included is a small Gala dinghy about 10 years old in good shape, and it comes with a 3.5 HP Tohatsu outboard engine.

1985 Westerbeke 27hp fresh water cooled inboard diesel; cruising speed 5-6 knots; 114L fuel capacity; folding propeller; oil/water/temp alarm; bilge blower.
The electrical system is maintained through the charging of 3-12 volt batteries; alternator; battery charger; 12/110 volt electrical panel; circuit breakers; 110 volt shore power w/cord.
