Description
This 1987 Passport 40, a highly regarded blue-water cruiser designed by the legendary Robert Perry, and built, like the most beautiful boats of her generation, in Taiwan. This vessel provides a truly unique opportunity for the right buyer. She's a sound, beautiful vessel configured and priced for a minimalist sailor, like the seller, or for someone who wants a solid boat that they can customize to their specifications.
On deck she's configured for comfort, simplicity and single handed sailing, with all lines led aft, an eWincher power winch handle for effortless raising of the mainsail and dinghy, a newly installed Hydrovane for hands free steering while sailing and a tiller pilot for when you're motoring. A recently serviced Lofrans Tigress windlass handles the Rocna anchor and 330' of 5/16 chain - enough to keep you safely anchored in nearly all conditions and a brand new bimini and recently resewed dodger protect you from the elements. 660 watts of new solar panels feed 3 new AGM batteries via a Victron solar controller - all new in 2024. 5 Regularly serviced Barrient winches keep the boat trimmed
Inside you'll find an interior that is perfectly designed for a single hander or cruising couple, combining classic Taiwanese beauty with sea-going functional design. To port, a u-shaped galley at the base of the companionway keeps you secure while underway, and an L-shaped saloon, just forward, encircles a huge dinette that cleverly doubles as the engine compartment - providing unsurpassed engine access in a boat of this size. To starboard is a rear stateroom for crew, a rear-facing nav station forward of that, and a long pilot berth/settee
This boat has been sailed extensively throughout the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Coast of Mexico over the last 5 years and is capable of doing the same for you or taking you further afield
