Description
A proven coastal cruiser with a long list of recent upgrades, Recess is a Catalina 36 in excellent condition, turnkey and ready for her next adventure. Designed for comfort and safety at sea, she features a spacious cockpit, wide side decks with 2019-replaced lifelines, and a clean deck layout with a 2021 windlass, 2022 solid boom vang, and Harken furling system.
Below the waterline, a new cutlass bearing, stainless steel prop shaft, and dripless shaft seal were installed in 2018. A 3 blade Autostream feathering propeller was installed in 2021.
Her sail inventory includes a 2021 110% jib (only used a handful of times), plus a well-maintained main with lazyjacks, and 150% genoa, all serviced by North Sails.
Below deck, the bright teak interior is in above-average condition, with 2019 new upholstery in the salon and upgraded foam in the V-berth. The L-shaped galley boasts a 2019 12V Novakool refrigeration system, Force 10 6-gallon hot water tank, and practical storage.
The head was fully renewed in 2022 with all new hoses, and the boat is fitted with a Dickenson diesel heater for year-round cruising comfort.
The reliable Universal M-35 diesel (30 HP, 2,239 hours) has been professionally serviced annually, with major upgrades from 2022–2025 including: new freshwater pump, new exhaust elbow, new cap and thermostat, and a new raw water pump.
She also has 2024 AGM batteries, a 2023 new gear cable, and new stainless steering quadrant wires. Plus, I thoughtfully installed galvanic isolator this year, to protect Recess from errant currents, which can corrode a boat's underwater metals, like the hull, prop, and shaft.
