Description

Well maintained and cruise-ready Catalina 42 MKI fin keel, 3 cabin model located in the Sea of Cortez, La Paz, Mexico.

This boat is perfectly situated in La Paz for short trips to the islands, or weeks to months long cruises exploring the amazing Sea of Cortez and beyond. She has 700W solar and a 12V 8gph Schenker watermaker with 130 gallons of water tankage to support long periods off the grid. The custom stainless arch mounts the solar panels, radar and hoists the dinghy high for security and easy access to the transom swim platform and shower. New custom 30” lifelines, stanchions and solid safety rails along the cockpit are integrated with the pulpits and arch. The 10ft AB aluminum RIB with wheels and a 4-stroke 5hp Tohatsu outboard gets you to shore quickly. She has a current USCG document and a 2023 Mexican TIP. The 2022 survey and mechanical inspection reports are available to accepted offers.

Accommodations

This boat has the popular fin keel, three-cabin, two-head layout, offering flexible sleeping arrangements for cruising families or couples. The Catalina 42 features 6ft 8” headroom, a large, convenient galley, a comfortable dinette, two showers, a huge cockpit, and excellent sailing qualities. Each aft cabin has a large double berth with ample storage cabinets, and the master stateroom has a spacious pullman berth with a new mattress topper and large cabinets. The inboard shrouds promote quick passage to the wide, comfortable foredeck. The spacious cockpit seats 6+ with wide sloped coamings plus custom perch seats in the pushpit. Clear sight lines and the large wheel make for great sailing whether piloting from the helm or seated on the comfortable coamings. The open transom with swim platform makes for safe and swift dinghy boarding, and if you like to swim or fish it provides wonderful access to the water. With over 1000 built, the Catalina 42 has a large following to learn from and original replacement parts are still easy to find.
